Walking In Memphis

This time every year we head north to Memphis, TN for the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show.
Carl looks like he is scared or something!

My kids have always enjoyed walking thru the booths and collecting bags of goodies (candy, pens, pencils, stress-balls, keychains, koozies... and more!) for free! Of course some vendors have things for sale (tshirts, jewlery, toys, etc.) and like always we end up buying stuff! We always see people we (Carl) know and enjoy talking with them and catching up in-person as apposed to online.
They also do a drawing for lab puppies both days of the show.
Aren't they precious? Makena was in love with them.

After walking around for a few hours we went to eat at BB Kings on Beale street.

Trey was looking so handsome. I can't believe how much has grown since last year!

Carl took our picture. We love the culture in Memphis.

Mommy & Kena Faith

After walking what seemed like forever in the cold to get back to our car, we headed to our hotel but not before making a trip to Bass Pro in The Pyramid. Again we saw people we knew and Carl had to talk (because that's what Carl does). We have just learned to keep going. He will usually find us.

Trey and Makena had a good time in the pool.
It didn't feel all that warm to me!
He was threatening to splash me...

After our swim, we headed up to the room to get ready for our dinner at Joe's Crabshack. That has been one of our family's favorite restaurants for years.

My two handsome men

I was not feeling too hot  after my meal at BB Kings, so I look a litt poo-ish but it is always a good time at Joe's.

Carlie opted for a fruity drink in a souvenir cup..that flashed colors.

My sweet MM. She was such a trooper for this trip. It was the first big trip since her surgery. It takes us roughly 2 hours to get to Memphis and you have to walk EVERYWHERE (big city problems). She made it okay. She was sore and had to take frequent breaks but she made it. I felt bad for her. She has the desire, but her body is holding her back. Please keep praying for her. She starts physical therapy next week.

After eating we made a quick trip to Academy and TJ Maxx. Trey was just happy that there was a little girl selling GirlScout Cookies (Savannah Smiles are his faves). When we madebit back to our hotel he put on his PJ'S and ate most of the box...he's a growing boy!
I'm not gonna lie our stay was not the most comfortable. No matter how big the room, when one  person snores. Beats and noise makers a helpful but we are really going to have to get two rooms from now on!
The next day we got up and headed back home. We made a quick stop to see Carl's mom and step-dad, then had to hurry back for my nephew's birthday party. He turned 12 on the 25th, but we didn't get to see him then.  We were tired but had fun.
Needless to say, we all slept soundly that night.
It was fun to go to the big city but I'm a country girl at heart. And let's be honest, there's just no place like home.

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
