Sunday Fun

As I mentioned in my previous post, Saturday was a fairly busy day and we did all of it on our own....meaning no Daddy.  I do realize that my kids are older, which you would think means that things would be easier, and while some things are, somethings never change: being outnumbered by kids is hard work!  We just need Daddy around sometimes! Sunday we had our 5th Sunday services which included potluck, afternoon singing, and no night services.  So after our singing we spent the rest of the afternoon at my parents' pool.  Trey was so glad to have his Daddy there!  We also had a teenage boy from our church and his sister, Bonnie come swim with us.  Bonnie is about a year and a half older than Carlie, so she played well with Carlie and Makena.  Hayden, however was attacked with attention from Trey.  You know, I don't think that any teen has any idea how these little guys (and girls) look up to them.  Trey wanted to do anything that Hayden did.  It's so cute, but also so sca

Saturday In The Sun

Saturday was a pretty busy day for us...we went to put flags out at the cemetary, went to my Mom and Dad's to swim  and then went to DeWitt to eat fish at my Papaws.  I didn't get to take any pictures down there, but I did take a few at the pool: T going down the slide Carlie was trying to hide from me My little synchronized swimmer! Pop, looking like he was throwing that kick board at me! Trey, Nanny, and Carlie were getting the snacks out. T thought he was really diving.  It was so cute :) Carlie was helping me make a cake All the kids helped me ice and put sprinkles on it. I don't know what Trey was wearing....winter pajamas and a winter hat!!  We were making it for potluck at church on Sunday.

We Remember

Bonfire!

Well, last night we decided to have another bonfire.  This is the first one that we've had since our little incident at the house.  It was a lot of fun for the kids.  We stayed out past their bedtime and that in itself thrilled them.  Have you seen these marshmallows?  Our Wal-Mart just got them in at the beginning of the week, and of course yours truly (SUCKER) bought them.  They are HUGE!  In fact, maybe a little too big.  They don't stay on the sticks very well.  I think we'll stick with the small ones from now on! Ready to Roast! Carl said that nobody ever takes a picture of me, so he did. Not a ver flattering one, but this is proof that I was there! Trey was our entertainer of the night They love to push each others buttons! He was making up his own songs by the end of the night! Overall it was a much needed, fun Friday night.  Almost back to normal....Almost :)

Busy As A Bee!

Well the title says it all....I have been super busy this week.  I knew it would be hard to manage my time and making this school thing a new normal for me, but I didn't realize how unorganized I really am!  I finally broke down and bought a binder system to keep up with all of my stuff so it wouldn't just be laying around everywhere.  I'm still working on that!  My classes have taken up 2 to 3 hours a morning and I usually read for about an hour and a half at night, but I have a couple of really big things due in the next 2 weeks, so that might change :)   I think this will be a little easier once school is out....I might be wrong, but I can always hope. The kids are winding down at school and we only go 3 1/2 days next week and then our graduation and closing program is Friday night at 7:30.  It's still up in the air as to if we will be going to the closing program...I probably will, I just don't want to!  I love hearing the girls sing, I just don't want to s

Athletic Banquet 2011

Tonight our school held it's annual Athletic Banquet honoring all of the athletes for their participation in the school sports program.  We had a very nice meal of spaghetti, lasagna, salad, green beans, corn, bread, and lots and lots of desserts.  It was very good.  We also had a short devotional by a pastor whose grand kids go to school with us.  I'd be lying if I said there was no pun aimed towards the "end of the world predictions" but it was a very good devotional on teamwork, as in teamwork in working together to spread the gospel.  It was kind of a charge to the kids as well as to the parents to go out and spread the word over the summer.  Then we had the awards ceremony. Carlie and Makena both got trophy's for participating in the pee wee basketball program and Carl got a gift for being an assistant coach for the pee wee boys.  I didn't get a chance to take many pictures, but here are the few that I did take: Heather, Gracie, Skyler, and Carlie enjoyi

Duck Tape, An Angel, and Babe

Duck tape has many uses.  My kids think that just about anything can be fixed with it!  But who knew that duck tape could be used as a fashion statement?!  Makena brought this home to me from school yesterday: It's a wallet made completely of zebra print duck tape!! She said it was my early birthday present :) It is actually function able and has a nifty little coin pouch in it! A few weeks ago the girls were saving their money to buy all these different colors of duct tape because I just refused to buy 6 rolls of duct tape for $5 a piece.  It just seemed like a waste to me, but then they started making these cute little bows (which I don't have a picture of), and now the wallets.  Now, I'm not sure that I'll be using it as my main wallet, but it will definitely hold a place in my purse :)  The new Gucci?  I think not, but who knows what they will come up with it next! This has been the month for book reports.  Makena has been reading Babe (which by the way I did N

Books and Pork Chops

So, this morning I went to LR and got my books for school :)  Monday is the day and I am SUPER excited.  I think more excited now than when I first started!  All that money for one stinkin' little box!! Don't these look yummy?  I bought these pork chops and was completely surprised when I pulled them out of the package.  They were HUGE, and very tasty!  Please note that yes, my kids did look at Mommy like she was crazy when I took a picture of the pork chops! Whew, we've almost made it through another week!  I am very glad to say that as of today we have 12 1/2 more days of school!!  I am having to drag the kids out of bed, especially Makena!  Every morning when I go in to wake her she says, "Just give me 5 more minutes"!  Bless her little heart, she is my sleeper.  This week has been 100 percent better less stressful than last week.  I've done a lot of praying this week, and for the first time in a while, I have peace with many things in my life.  God is

More Talks With T

Trey is just the one of the funniest little people I know.  I wish I would have had a video camera in church Sunday night.  We don't have Children's church at our church (Sunday School on Sunday mornings and Baptist Training Course on nights), just a nursery that goes up to age 3 and maybe sometimes 4 (just depending on the child).  So Trey has been in "big church" since he was 2.  He is used to it and does pretty well most Sundays.  So Carl was leading singing and he picked the song "Love Lifted Me".  Evidently Trey loves this song because he was singing all of the chorus at the top of his lungs! People were starting to stare at us!   It was so cute, but very hard not to laugh.  He wasn't doing it to be funny, but it was funny because he was so serious (and loud)  :) The other night we were in the car and as we pulled under the carport Carl told Trey that if he wasn't doing anything tomorrow that he needed to pick up some of the trash down there.

Phone Pictures

What happened to my warm weather?!  Something is wrong when it's the 15th of May and I'm putting a sweater on for church!  At least the sun is out and we've been able to enjoy this beautiful (cool) day!  Yesterday, not so much.  Makena had been having stomach issues since Thursday and had been complaining and not eating much at all (not like her), so I had already made up my mind that if she was still complaining on Saturday that I would take her to her pediatrician.   Well, she did, so off to LR we went.  Long story short, we spent more time waiting on her to tinkle than on the doctors!!  She had to go to the bathroom when we first got there, so we went.  I didn't have any idea that they would do an urinalysis or else I would have made her wait.  They gave her a Popsicle and then they gave her water and ice.  FINALLY after we had been there for an hour and a half she went!  Of course then it took 15 to 20 minutes for the test results to get back :(  When the doctor cam

Baby Kittens

Well, we finally found out where Emmit was hiding her kittens....at the neighbors house attic!!  We haven't been actively looking  (lately)  because we just figured that she'd bring them out when she was ready, and well, she was ready, but not quite ready to bring them to our house!!  Who knows why...maybe we're a little loud and rowdy over here :)  Anyway, our neighbor brought them over to me Wednesday in a box and there were three.  Carl had been guessing 5, but at least there would be one for each kid....you know we have to keep things even!  So Trey and I went out and found the dog kennel to put them in and stupid me decided to let Emmit in (and not shut the door), and to be honest I never would have guessed that she would have snatched that kitten up so fast and took it across the road!  I was in shock.  Trey was crying because that was the kitten that he picked out (of course) and now we were down to two....not a good number with three kids :(  Later that night Carl a

Ready to Swim!!

Trey, Noah, and Carlie in the pool Makena Faith trying to get on her raft! Noah thought that the water was WAY too cold! Well, I really think that this Mother's Day was the first time we have ever spent it "in" the pool.  Usually we are just getting it ready, and we swim a few days later, but this year we were technically "in" it.  I say technically because I was NOT in it.  It was freezing cold, and I don't know how those kids stayed in there, but they did---and they threw a big fit when it was time to go home!!  Trey and Carlie even jumped off the board.  Now, as you can see in the picture of Noah on the steps, it still wasn't completely full yet, but it still had plenty of water to swim in. At least all of that green water from Friday was gone!!  I am so ready for summer:  for the pool, for the kids to be out of school, for sleeping-in to at least eight, for staying up extra late, for the 4th of July, and me and Makena have summer birthdays :)    I

Mother's Day At Nanny's

Every year my mom gets my girls (well they let Trey think he's helping) together and they buy stuff for me, my sister, and my Grammy.  They fix each of us up little baskets with all kinds of goodies in it and fix food (cake, fruit, lemonade).  We all sit down and enjoy a little snack and open our gifts and just enjoy each others company.  This is a "girls only" party and this year Ellie Kate even joined us :)  We made the mistake of going out to the pool before the party so we look like drowned rats...oh, well! Our little cake :) Grammy looking at her goodies Jamie was looking at her card and EK was chowing down! My mom always gets us Yellow Box flip flops Mom, with her bag that The Simpson's got her.  She'll probably be mad because I put these pics on here...she's in her cover-up! Makena got her this flamingo flag Carlie got her the candle, and Trey got her some flowers, but I didn't get a picture of those! I know that I absolutely have the best
