Weekend Recap: Playing Catch-Up

Happy Tuesday, my fine friends! I took a week off from blogging and Instagram (my two favorite platforms) last week, so I am playing a game of catch-up this week.  We went to the river a few nights over the past week. The evenings still work best for us.  It is just a nice way for both Carl and Trey to wind down after work.  We usually just hang out at the sand bar for a couple of hours (sometimes we ride more depending on *gas*).  I have no idea what he was telling me, but I'm sure it was hilarious! Boone loves going to the river, but we don't take him every time. This view is one of my favorites.  Almost as pretty as the beach :) We had a fun weekend, but I didn't take many pictures at all.  On Saturday Carl had to work. God love him, he needs a break and vacation can't come soon enough (8 MORE DAYS).  He has pretty much been "on-call" for two months now (7 days a week, no days off).  Not unlike years in the past in many ways, but there are some other issue

Makena Faith Turns 20!

Happy Wednesday! It has been a whirlwind of a week here.  It seems like all of a sudden all of the days are just flying by! I mean, my baby girl is now the big 2-0!  We spent her special day doing her favorite thing: visiting museums!  My little history major had a fun day seeing the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum (home of the USS Razorback submarine and the Hoge tugboat) and the Historic Museum of Arkansas.  Both are located in Little Rock and they were both new to her.  She just soaked it all in and asked lots of questions on the tours we took. She also talked to a guide about working :) I loved being able to spend the day with her.  Just doing things she wanted.  We finished our trip off with a snow cone when we got back in town.  All smiles for the birthday girl! We also had a small party for her at my parent's house.  She chose a 70's theme :) Makena with her favorite brother! Makena with Ellie Kate and Carlie My Dady, Toby G, Makena, and Nanny Grammy, Makena, and Papa N

Weekend Recap: Baby Shower Edition

Happiest of Mondays, friends!   We were blessed to be able to shower our sweet little Wrenley with all the gifts this weekend.  I can't wait to meet our sweet baby girl! Sisters 💗 Carlie was super surprised to see her roommate from surgical tech school. All of Carl's family came! Carlie with the church ladies. It was such a great day to celebrate with friends and family. Much Love, Beth

Weekend Recap: Red, White, & Blue Edition

Happy Tuesday! I feel like I'm dragging today.  Sometimes long weekends seem like more of a curse than a blessing, but here's to another week! We had a very nice weekend here on the homestead.  It started with a little corn shuckin'! We love freezing sweet corn to have all winter long.   There is just something about that sweet taste of summer in the dead of winter that gives me hope :) PSA: I hate winter! We grilled burgers on Saturday afternoon and then went for a short river trip. Boone loves to play with frogs. I just happened to catch him as he tossed this poor little guy in the air! Mr. Red, White, and Blue! He loves 'Merica  Carl and Makena were the only ones who braved the freezing cold water. Toby and Makena Faith Carlie is still chugging along. About 8/9 more weeks to go! Let me just take a moment to go off on a little side rant.  I am all about having fun at the river.  Be it with friends or family.  We typically have a fun time.  But you know what ruins thi
