Wings Over The Prairie Festival 2011

Today was the day that Trey got to blow his duck call on the Main Stage at the Wings Over The Prairie Festival!  Now, of course it would be more exciting if he was actually competing, but this is his first time to take a class at all, so maybe he'll be able to take classes in advance and compete in the the Beginner Youth Duck Calling Contest next year.  This was a big deal to us today :)  His buddy, Hayden competed Wednesday and got third place.  I think that kind of boosted his interest in this.  I think it could be a great opportunity.  If you are any good you can win scholarships,  cash prizes, and lots more.  Definitely something worth trying.  Today they split the kids up according to their ages and took them aside and taught them as a group different calls that they eventually put into a routine that could be used in the real contest.  He loved it, and was too cute doing it :) After we finished with the class we all went and got something to eat then went back to ride some r

Happy Thanksgiving

Yesterday we spent lunch at Papa and Grammy's house.  The food was wonderful (as always) and the kids had fun playing with Hadlee, Noah, Elijah, and Ellie Kate. I feel really bad because I didn't get many pictures, but I was trying to help keep things clean and visit.  I also had to show off the video of Trey being a turkey.  So much excitement, he can hardly stand it! Now, Makena is happy :) Carlie made up a Thanksgiving play and got Grammy to help. On limited resources and no help from me, she made the costumes herself, too :) She also recruited Aunt Jamie and Trey Last night we went to my Papaw's house for Thanksgiving and my Dad's Aunt brought these pictures of my dad and his little sisters.  I about flipped out, look at how much Trey looks like my dad!!  We all know that he acts like him, but it's unreal how much he looks like him as a kid. We had a fun and busy Thanksgiving and we ended it by heading into Stuttgart to get a few things at Walmart.  BIG MISTAK

Wednesday Loves

Happy Wednesday Loves!!  Here are a few of things I'm loving today: I'm loving that this is the magical week of the World's Championship Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart.  There is just something about this time of year on the Grand Prairie.  The sounds of duck calls ringing out down Main Street, the carnival going on, Duck Gumbo (which we DO NOT attend).  I love it all, and this year T will be participating in a little contest/class on Friday morning, so there will be pictures to come :) I'm seriously loving the example that Tim Tebow is to tons of boys.  In case you didn't know, for one game he put John 3:16 on the black under his eyes and I forget how many people Googled it, but it was a crazy amount.  Just another way to spread the word.  He is a great role model. I know that I'm blessed so much more than I deserve, how about you?! That's all I have for today, even though it seems as if I could go on and on.  Can't wait to spend the day with fa

Thanksgiving Break Day 2

Today the kids and I got up early (well if you call 8:30 early) and headed to DeWitt to see my Papaw.  We had a good time visiting them, but it was also a sad time because I was faced with something that I've known for a while....my grandparents are getting old.  I know, it's kind of a "duh" moment because Papaw is in his 70's and so is Grammy and Papa is 83!  It was just several little things he said and did today that made me a little sad that he's not young again, but on the thankful side, I've still got three of my 4 grandparents and they are in pretty good health for their age :)  We ended up staying down there for about an hour before leaving and going to Sonic to grab some lunch.  We will see them again on Thursday, but it was good to visit one on one with them today :) The rest of the afternoon was pretty much laid back.  We didn't go anywhere or do anything until Carlie started our Taco's at 5.  Yes, Carlie is doing more and more cooking

Gobble Gobble Gobble Fat Turkey

Yesterday was the school's Thanksgiving Banquet.  After we got finished eating a yummy meal all the students put on their individual class programs, and the K-3rd grade program was a hit.  Of course T did a great job :)  We were so proud of him.  I was glad that Grammy, Papa, Nanny, Pop, and Daddy got to join us and watch them.  I do have this on video, but due to technical difficulties, I can't put it on here :( The girls individual grades did a poem and they did a great job too :)  The best part of yesterday was that it was the last day of school before Thanksgiving Break!!  Yes, I plan to sleep-in as much as possible next week! Trey the turkey and Atticus the Indian His hat fell in front of his face :) T, doin' his thing Hope, Makena, and Samantha reading their poem All the class and half of Maddie!  I never could get her to look up! Carlie wouldn't look up either.  Doesn't she look grown up? Aiden, Hannah, and Carlie It was a really nice program and each c

Harvest Supper

Carlie, Trey, and Makena were working so hard on their Thanksgiving place mats for the Harvest Supper at church. T with one of his place mats Carlie's place mat And, Makena's mat Megan, Carlie, and Makena at the Harvest Supper tonight. Trey, Makena, and Megan singing "I Will Enter His Gates" Carlie singing Tonight was our annual Harvest Supper at church.  The kids and I spent Tuesday night finishing up place mats that our Discovery group started last week.  Carl was gone to deer camp so we just made our place mats and ate grilled cheese, all while listening to our church Christmas program on CD :)  I always enjoy the Harvest Supper so much because we all just fellowship, eat, sing, and then Bro. Jeff does a short devotion.  It's always such a good time. This is not going to be my "Thanksgiving" post, but I do want to stay just how thankful I am for my church family.  They have been beside me through graduating high school, to me and Carl gettin

Basketball Practice Pics

Last week I didn't take any pictures of my Dad and Bro. Jeff during basketball practice, but I remembered today!  All eyes on Coach Pop! He was teaching Samantha what to do. The girls really enjoyed last week.  I had a parent come up to me and tell me that her little girl said she really thought that "they" (the coaches) new what they were doing!  This afternoon my dad had Bro. Jeff take a group of girls down on the other end of the court to do their own thing, while he worked with a group.  He seemed to do pretty well with his own little group!  Meanwhile, I sit on the sidelines to supervise :)  Not really, but it sounded good anyway.  I'm just the adult female in the room.  We just felt that it would be a good idea to not have two adult males with a group of young girls (always gotta have your bases covered!).  So that's where I fit in :) We still do not have a game scheduled yet, but at least we are having time to get in the groove of the game.  They playe

Happy Birthday, Carlie!!

On Thursday we celebrated Carlie's birthday with her friends at school with a surprise party at Larry's Pizza.  My friend Jill and I had been planning this for a couple of weeks because it was her little girl, Skyler's birthday on the 10th and Carlie's is on the 12th.  Anyway, they have been in the same class together since Kindergarten and with Jill and I being friends, they really haven't had a choice!  So here are a few pictures that I took at the party.  I feel like the most horrible mother because I forgot my camera and had to take the pictures with my phone, but to my defense, I was getting really sick that day :( The cakes.  Jill made Skyler's cake herself!  Skyler loves Razorbacks and lime green and lime green just so happens to be Carlie's favorite color too, so we did our best to make it all go together, and I'm very please with how it turned out! First Deer of the Season

The first deer of the season in the Munger House goes to......Carlie!   That's right, she got up this morning and went hunting with Carl.  I thought she'd want to sleep in since we got in late, but she was up and ready to go!  They left the house around 5:45 or so and Carl said she shot her deer aroung 7:15!  He was very proud because she shot it all by herself :)  She really enjoys it and teases Carl because he hasn't got one yet!  Here is the picture he sent me from his phone: I love seeing her this happy! This afternoon Carl took Makena hunting.  Funny thing is right before time to come in from hunting they saw and deer and she had it perfect in her scope, but when Carl told her to shoot, she froze!!  She told me that she couldn't shoot it because it was looking at her.  She really wasn't ashamed of it either.  She has such a sweet, tender, heart :)  Here is a picture he took of her going to the stand: She looks like she's ready to hunt!  She kept texting m

Basketball Begins!

Tonight the first basketball games of our season were played in Watson Chapel.  We played a homeschool group called Liberty and of the three games we played, we won one of them.  I guess that leaves room for improvement!   I loved being indoors...out of the cold:)  Speaking of basketball, my dad and I have volunteered co-coaching the pee wee girls this year.  I'm a little nervous because although I love to watch basketball, I'm not a player.  I think my dad will do most of the coaching and I'll just assist :)  You know, be the whistle blower, water girl, all the behind the scene stuff!  I'm so glad it's just pee wee!! The Sr. Boys warming up.  Carlie and Skyler I forgot to take my camera last night, so all I had was my phone, so that's why these are such poor quality.  Maybe I'll get a new phone soon...hint hint :) The other pictures I took at the game didn't turn out.  The kids had a lot of fun but were so tired and whiney all the way home.  I reall
