The Weekend: HOT Edition

Hey friends! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. It was a hot one here on the homestead. We started off the weekend with a ride to the river. Carlie was with Caleb, so it was just me, Carl, Makena, and Trey. Trey and his mini ponytail.  The mullett is still going strong. Silly face! Trey was sitting in the front, so as we turned he thought it would be funny to splash Makena. Lucky for him, she is a good sport! He's a clown!! I almost forgot the most important thing that happened on Friday... Makena's diploma came in!! I'm so proud of her, not only for working hard all of these years but also for keeping a good attitude about all the changes that were made during the past few months.  A perfect end to the day. In spite of the heat, we made plans to have a seafood boil on Saturday.  Carl has become a master at this!  We tried to buy everything to have it on Makena's birthday but everyone in town was out of seafoo

Friday Favorites

Hey guys! I'm linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals  for yet another Friday Favorites! One of my favorite things we did this week was taking a short trip to Arkansas Post. The visitor center was closed but we walked trails and had a picnic lunch. It was just nice to get away for a few hours.  Trey and Makena having a picnic lunch. Arkansas Post was Arkansas' first capital.  This is an almost 200 year old cistern from a house that is no longer standing. I believe it is around 24 feet deep.  We took a different trail and went down to the rifle pits. Very interesting.  We were a little disappointed that we didn't see any alligators this trip. Another favorite is from the very same day as our Post trip.  Makena Faith turned 18! I hope all of your wishes come true, baby girl! Her first order of business was registering to vote. We are also working on getting her a checking account, which is proving to be a pain in the neck. Due

Weekend Recap: July Fourth Edition

We started our weekend off with some family time at the pool.  T was cooling off after spending the afternoon mowing. Carlie and Caleb chilling on the steps. Makena had a butterfly friend. Carl was blowing bubbles! My parents hung out with us too. Pop and Makena were talking about 70's music. Well, it looks like this is as close as I'm gonna get to the beach this year: the White River. We took the boat out for a spin after dinner Friday evening. It was so peaceful! We found a sand bar! There were barely any last year, so you can imagine our excitement. If you have followed along with us very long, you'll know that he is our clown. Always doing his best to make people laugh! Everyone was getting festive! We slept in on Saturday morning and then went over to my parents for a fish fry.  Carlie and Toby Mr. Cool Miss Sassy Color changing cups are added fun It was only my crew today.  We were out for about 45 minutes before the clouds came...then it rained all afternoon.  So we

Friday Favorites

Hey friends! I'm linking up with Andrea at  Momfessionals this week for another Friday Favorites! Look at some of the fresh produce and eggs we have gotten this week! This will never not be a favorite! Loads of jalapeños and eggs! We also have an abundance of cucumbers.  We had our first heat advisory days this week. With heat indexes above 105, the pool was a favorite place to keep cool. Our favorite dog, Toby, has decided that he enjoys being in the pool too! Toby and Makena Faith It also just happens to be time for one of my favorite holidays! I love everything about July 4th. Well, I love everything except having to deal with mosquitoes! We got lots of good fireworks this year and I can't wait for our backyard festivities!! Carl and Makena checking out the goods. These people will always be my favorites ❤  These are a few of my favorite things🎶 Much Love, Beth
