Weeds

It was a pretty ordinary afternoon. We had finished our dinner. Makena was making loom bracelets and doing her homework, Carlie and Trey were outside splashing around in the hot tub, and Carl and I were painting cabinets for a renovation project. Nothing too exciting. After a while Carlie went inside, Trey changed and came back out to "bird hunt", and I got bored with painting. So while Carl and I are talking Trey came up to me with a big 'ole smile and a handful of "flowers". He said, "I picked these long flowers for you so you can put them in your owl vase". My first instinct was to tell him we were not going to take weeds in the house, but instead I smiled with tears in my eyes, thanked him, and took them in the house and put them in the vase he suggested. With all of the tornado pictures and stories being shown and told on TV and social media, there was one that stood out in my mind the most. The one of the Smith Family that lost both of their b

Happy Easter Sunday!

Along with her tickets to the concert, Carlie got a new case for her phone in her Easter bag...no baskets this year.  The Easter Bunny was too tired to mess with all of that! Trey got some sidewalk chalk and the move "The Nut Job" in his bag.  He absolutely loved the movie.  It was cute. The picture I got of Makena was really blurry, but she got a new necklace and earring set to wear with her Easter dress, sidewalk chalk (my kids love it), and a swimsuit cover up.   I do love him so much! My handsome boys in yellow   This picture was so forced, it's not even funny! My two pretty girls Trey with his Sunday School teacher On our way home from church.  Everybody was ready to go eat at Grammy and Papa's house.   Trey was looking for eggs at Grammy's. Someone always puts money in the eggs there and that is the only reason he wanted to hunt with a bunch of girls!   Trey and Maxee were racing to find that money egg!

Brantley Gilbert: Let It Ride Tour

Tonight we took Carlie to see Brantley Gilbert at Verizon Arena. We knew it was going to be a full, crazy weekend, but decided that it would be fun! This was her first concert, so she was super excited. I'm not a huge Brantley Gilbert fan, but Carlie really wanted to go. My vote was Bruno Mars in June!! Carl and I took her to eat at Gusano's in the River Market before the concert. She was nice enough to let me take their picture!! We also walked across the River Bridge to Verizon. We were trying to give her the full experience :) Ready for the concert to start! Eric Paslay was first, and put on a great show! Thomas Rhett with Brantley Gilbert. In my opinion Thomas was just as good if not better than Brantley. Brantley singing "Bottoms Up" It's always neat seeing everybody with their lighters/phones shining! It was a very fun night. We got to spend time with our biggest girl and she got a t-shirt (even though she conveniently forgot her $$!

Church Egg Hunt

Trey was ready for our 1st Church Easter Egg Hunt!   Makena, Spencer, and Lydia did a great job of hiding eggs and helping with their age group.   The girls with Trey and his prizes I was a little sad because he was the only one hunting eggs this year. I really don't have any babies anymore :(   Me and my girlies!   Makena and Anna Grace   A selfie with T!   Makena and Josie She just went and sat in her lap and started going to sleep. Kids are just generally drawn to her.   Trey and Kynnlea Now, Trey and little kids are the complete opposite of Makena and little ones! He is not very tolerant of them and really just tries to stay away.     Today was our Church Egg Hunt.  This is the first time we have ever had one at the church as an outreach program.  There were quite a few kids there and they all seemed to have a good time. Trey had a blast, but like I said before, it was a little sad for me because my big girls are

Happy Sunday!

Sorry Carlie has sleepy eyes, but in the second one I took her eyes were closed! Trey and his frenemy, Gage. Happy Palm Sunday!   Beth

Cajun Shrimp and A Fishing Trip

Today was one of the days that I wait for every year....the day the Cajuns come to town with their craw fish, shrimp, and all the fixin's.  It's crazy how many people stand in a very long line to get this stuff!  Carl picked us up some and brought it to me at school.  I wasn't alone.  Several kids and teachers also had some, so the whole kitchen wreaked of seafood.....we also had fish sticks in the lunchroom today! After a quick trip to Wal-Mart and a stop at my Mom's to see the Simpson's off, we came home and grilled out some yummy chicken and of course had some more shrimp and craw fish! Doesn't this look so yummy?! My lips and mouth were on fire, but I couldn't stop eating them! After we ate, we went to the farm to do some fishing. Of course we didn't catch anything, but it's all about making memories, right? Caught this amazing sunset even if we didn't catch any fish. Beth

The Ditchers

Today we (I) decided that we just need a break from school.  I don't work on Thursday's, so we took Nanny with us and went to Pine Bluff.  Now generally if we go shopping we head to Little Rock, but we were specifically looking for Carlie an Easter dress so I thought Pine Bluff would do.  Yes, I hear the no frock thing is in this year, but I am very traditional and feel there is absolutely nothing wrong with dressing up for Easter.  I don't judge people who decide not to, but who doesn't look for a reason to buy new clothes and dress up! So we did end up find Carlie a dress at Dillard's.  It is solid white lace.  Plain and simple.  Makena will be wearing something that I always said my kids wouldn't wear for Easter.....black and white.  It isn't always easy shopping for her, so when we find something that looks great and she likes, we get it, no matter what color it is.  So I have this vision of putting Trey and Carl in yellow shirts.  We'll see how it

The Little Engine That Thought It Could

Today Trey's class went to the Grand Prairie Center to watch a play called "The Little Engine That Thought It Could".  It was really cute, but I don't think it was really anything like the kids expected.  They were thinking about the "Little Engine That Could".  It was very similar, but not the same.  I think they had over 700 hundred kids in attendance!  It was a fun little getaway :)  Trey's teacher was so nice and sent most of the boys with me!  We didn't have far to go, so it was fine :)  I really love listening to little boys conversations.  They are so very different than little girls! Trey with his buddy, Braden Had to take a selfie! A couple of cuties that were sitting next to us. I hate that you couldn't see this better, but this is part of the set and a couple of actors. It was a fun, busy day!  If anybody ever wants to say a prayer for me, Wednesday's are the days to do so!  I mean, I could use them any day,
