Spring Break Things

Our Spring Breaks are usually pretty boring.  Carl is usually in the fields planting rice and we are just kind of stuck doing "staycation" stuff.  And for the past three or four years I have been sick during Spring Break...this year was no different.  Makena has been so busy at school that she was pretty happy to get a break and just stay home. She did a Harry Potter Movie Night for us one night and made fun Harry Potter treats and of course, butter beer!  Trey's friend Talan came down so they did something (usually a bonfire or riding) almost every night.  On Saturday night his friend Dominic also came down.   My floors also got done the weekend prior to Spring Break!  It was a major ordeal, because why wouldn't it be?!  We ran into a few issues that slowed things down, but they were able to knock the majority of it out in one weekend.  We still have to do the master bedroom and finish trim.   We went hiking at the end of the week to Petit Jean State Park.  We may h

Weekend Rewind

Happy Monday!  It was a good weekend here on the homestead, but between the weather and time change, I feel like I am dragging a little bit. Let's start off with the best part of the weekend:  Makena made it home before the snow! That's right, I said snow!  It was just spring last week; crazy weather.   This is off of our back deck. It came down so fast! The flakes were huge.  It would have been a mess if we hadn't had 60 degree weather the day before. Thankfully we never lost our electricity.  It was pretty, but we all know how I feel about winter 😑   View from our front porch. It hadn't done much at this point. On Saturday we slept in!  We never sleep in, but even Carl made it until 9 a.m.  I let Makena sleep until 10 because she has been going non-stop for the past two weeks and was in serious need of a break!  I am happiest when I can take care of my babies😁 We went and saw Carlie and Caleb and then picked up a few things at Wal-Mart before coming back home and f

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  It's unreal how fast that comes back around isn't it?!  I love the weekends not because I go out and do any kind of partying, but because it is a little bit of a break from school and work (sometimes).  We had a great weekend, but one thing that I didn't blog about on Friday was our fun trip to Arkadelphia.  Our church had a fish fry for the MBSF students and also for the students at Henderson State University.  Now, you may wonder, "why not Ouachita"?  Good question.  As it turns out, the Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship isn't exactly welcome on a private Southern Baptist campus.  Now the MBSF still serves students on both campuses, they just serve them at the Center (which is on the Ouachita side and right across from the Henderson campus).    Here are a few pictures I took.  It isn't many because we were super busy.   My two handsome cooks Trey, Carl, and my dad We are so thankful for all of our helpers! Finally got to see Makena! A

Cowboys and Such

Happy March friends!  Can you believe that?!  This year is already speeding by.   I should have blogged this on Sunday night, but I am a procrastinator and I had to run into town with Carl and Trey, so here is my weekend recap on Tuesday😉 Done is better than perfect, right?! On our way to the rodeo! Saturday night was rodeo night!  We left our house early enough for us to go eat when we got to Little Rock.  When we were walking in the restaurant, we noticed this group of people at a table staring at us, more particularly, Trey.  As you can see, he was all out cowboy (which isn't unusual for him).  We commented on them staring but continued on to our table.  As we sat there, different people from the table would come up and walk past us to go to the restroom (staring the whole time).  Finally, an older lady in the group stopped by and said that he looked like someone famous (I don't know who she said) and wanted to take his picture😂  We are still laughing about that.
