Thanksgiving Break Day 2

Today the kids and I got up early (well if you call 8:30 early) and headed to DeWitt to see my Papaw.  We had a good time visiting them, but it was also a sad time because I was faced with something that I've known for a while....my grandparents are getting old.  I know, it's kind of a "duh" moment because Papaw is in his 70's and so is Grammy and Papa is 83!  It was just several little things he said and did today that made me a little sad that he's not young again, but on the thankful side, I've still got three of my 4 grandparents and they are in pretty good health for their age :)  We ended up staying down there for about an hour before leaving and going to Sonic to grab some lunch.  We will see them again on Thursday, but it was good to visit one on one with them today :)
The rest of the afternoon was pretty much laid back.  We didn't go anywhere or do anything until Carlie started our Taco's at 5.  Yes, Carlie is doing more and more cooking these days.  Of course, I supervise, but she does a pretty good job, she just likes to use lots of bowls and utensils that aren't really necessary.  You can tell she isn't doing the cleaning up!
Tonight was our Thanksgiving Service at church.  We had the Harvest Supper last Thursday, so our mid-week services were on Tuesday instead of Wednesday this week.  Bro. Jeff read a couple of verses in Psalms and then we all had the opportunity to stand and say what we were thankful for. We had talked about the service last night at the house.  Makena wanted to know why we weren't having Discovery again this week and that lead in to the whole discussion of what all we were thankful for.  When I asked Trey he said he was thankful for his friends: Cam, Hayden, and Whit.  I wasn't too surprised about that.  Anyway, so tonight several people had already said their thanks when I saw T stick his little had up, but someone else was already talking so I told him to put it down.  Then someone else started, and finally Bro. Jeff said, "Trey, did you have something you wanted to say?"  So Trey stood up and said without skipping a beat, "I am thankful that Jesus died on the cross for our sins."  I cried.  In that moment I felt very thankful.  Thankful that God has chosen me to be a parent to these three precious kids.  I know I fail, sometimes more than not, but I'm thankful that he's given me the opportunity to love them, take care of them, and most of all, to teach them about Him and His ways.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
