Weekend Recap: Red, White, & Blue Edition

Happy Tuesday! I feel like I'm dragging today.  Sometimes long weekends seem like more of a curse than a blessing, but here's to another week!

We had a very nice weekend here on the homestead.  It started with a little corn shuckin'!

We love freezing sweet corn to have all winter long.
There is just something about that sweet taste of summer in the dead of winter that gives me hope :)
PSA: I hate winter!

We grilled burgers on Saturday afternoon and then went for a short river trip.
Boone loves to play with frogs.
I just happened to catch him as he tossed this poor little guy in the air!

Mr. Red, White, and Blue!
He loves 'Merica

Carl and Makena were the only ones who braved the freezing cold water.

Toby and Makena Faith

Carlie is still chugging along. About 8/9 more weeks to go!

Let me just take a moment to go off on a little side rant.  I am all about having fun at the river.  Be it with friends or family.  We typically have a fun time.  But you know what ruins things for everyone? Sloppy drunks.  Thankfully we only had to share the sandbar with them for about 30 minutes.  I don't care to see Sloppy Sally with her boozy 50-year-old friends pretending to be 20 somethings.  Grow up, sis.
Sunday was church day :)
We also went to the fireworks stand 🤑🤑

Ready for a Fourth of July fish fry!

The Fam Bam

We found a nice little secluded spot this time!

Carl and his boat
I'm so ready for the big boat to be ready :)

Boat selfie!

Makena, sitting pretty

My parents and Toby came down later in the day

He loves taking pictures with me (most of the time)

Carlie and Caleb spent the afternoon with the Prices, but came back to our house for fireworks.
I think she got a little sunburnt and was getting eat up by mosquitoes but still forced a smile for my pictures

This year instead of doing the fireworks for kids, we did it for my grandparents.
Papa is almost 94 and Grammy has dementia.
They had fun!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
