April Recap

I am to the point now where I am just merely surviving in the blogging world, definitely not thriving!

I will try to get better, but for now, monthly updates will have to do.

Of course, the talk of April was the Solar Eclipse.  We were in the path of totality, but nothing like Makena was, down in Arkadelphia.  OBU made it a big thing where they all went down to the football stadium and had different activities. Carl and I were home by together and Trey had already gone to work for the afternoon.

Attack of the fly people

He was trying to get a picture or video.
Most of the time it was through his glasses.

The next thing we did in the month of April was a fish fry for Caleb's birthday, and this was the only picture that I took!  Carl can fry fish like nobody's business.  Here he wanted me to take a picture of his new apron that Makena got him.

Trey went with my uncle (who he works for) to move his house boat from the Arkansas River in Little Rock to the Arkansas River in Gillett.  It took a full work day to do all of that, but it was definitely something that he enjoyed.

Makena's senior picture proofs came in at the beginning of the month.
They were all so good, but this is the one she chose for the front of her announcement.
She is wearing thin.  I know she is ready for May!

Our big house project for the month of April was getting the floors replaced in the kitchen and dining rooms.  We have had the flooring for a while, but finally had the time.  It was a project that everyone was dreading.
Carl had to replace some subfloor in this spot by the door.

We found this written on a piece of trim when we were taking it up.
It has my grandparent's names and "built this house in 1960" written in my Papa's handwriting.
This piece went right back where we found it when the project was complete.

The new stuff going down!  I am so excited to not have lumps in my floor.
If you look closely at the picture of Carl in his apron (above), you can see the old floor.
We could hardly move after this was done, but it was well worth it.
Carl says he hopes that he doesn't have to redo it in our lifetime :)

In the middle of the month, we went to Arkadelphia for Makena's Senior Night at MBSF.  She has really enjoyed serving with them for her 4 years of college.  The minister to both the Ouachita Baptist University campus and the Henderson State campus.  I am so proud of her and all she has accomplished.  My sister and her husband were also able to meet us there that night.  Jamie was really big into MBSF when she was in college at ASU in Jonesboro (many moons ago), so she wanted to come and show her support for Makena as well and Tim is a preacher :)

A few pictures of Makena Faith throughout her college career with MBSF.
In case you are wondering, it stands for Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship.

We are all proud of her!
She kept trying to tell me that we didn't have to come (like I wouldn't) but I am glad we did.  We were able to chat with the new director there as well as some of her friends.  And it was also the only time I was able to wrap my arms around her for the month of April.  She was so busy that she wasn't able to come home... at all! In her whole four years that has never happened!
She has been in the Praise Band this year. I am so proud of her.

We also had our annual fundraiser at church in April.  This year we did a bake sale/fish fry.  We love us some fish around here, can you tell?!  We were actually just trying to do something different besides BBQ or burgers.  It was a success, and we all decided that fish was way too much work, so next year we will try for something different!
Trey thinks he knows it all when it comes to frying fish.
He learned it all from the best :)

The king himself, cheesing it up!

Here are just a few extras from the month:
We had a end of the year Gospel Project fun night at church.
The only picture I took was Trey, Anna Grace, my dad, and Alex playing volleyball.

Trey and Carl enjoying some tunes under in Trey's soon-to-be backyard.
They built that little lean-to for Trey's grill.

Carlie, Caleb, and Wrenley came out one night and she had the best time doing all the "country kid" stuff.

We are a huge fan of the water table this year!

Look at those little curls poppin'  :0

We went to see the "bock bocks"
She loves getting the eggs but didn't want to get too close to the hens.

She helped Pappy "water the flowers" aka play in the water.

And we all know she didn't want to go home.
This was everything she loves: outside, water, and being completely feral :)

I guess that wraps up a busy but fun month.  Next month looks to be just as busy, and I'm ready for it!!

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...

Happy Wednesday! Today I am linking up with  Shay  and  Sheaffer  for a What's Up Wednesday.   It has been a while since I have done this particular link-up.   What We're Eating This Week... This week, we pulled out one of our very favorites: Ritz Cracker Chicken.  We all love this, but it is Trey's very favorite meal. Not only is this recipe super easy, it is also a quick meal with a simple ingredients list: Meat • 4 cups Chicken, cooked Produce • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder • 1/2 tsp Onion powder Canned Goods • 1 (10.5 ounce) can Cream of chicken soup Baking & Spices • 1/8 tsp Black pepper • 1/4 tsp Salt Snacks • 1 1/2 sleeves Ritz crackers Dairy • 1/2 cup Butter • 1 cup Sour cream Mix your chicken along with your other ingredients and spices and then pour them all in a baking dish.  Bake on 350 for about 15 minutes and viola!
