Another Bonfire Friday Night

Wow, another week has gone by and it's almost now it's almost October! I just looked at our calendar for October and the first three weekends are full of birthdays, The Macks Fall Festival (to see Swamp People's Troy and Jacob), and the the last Friday night of the month is Hunter's (Carl's nephew) Senior Night, so we will be making the trip to Cherry Valley to watch him play :) We also have Farm Safety Day, a pumpkin patch visit, and Parent Teacher Conferences at school! Staying busy is usually a good thing. I guess we will find out :)

Poor Trey was sick Tues. and Wed. with a fever virus.

He just ran fever which mad him feel yucky. This is the first time he has been sick in a very long time and I felt so bad for him because he would just lay around and sleep. He ended up missing two days of school.

so our Friday night bonfire was on :)

the house and get her some socks and shoes....she talked

The kids have so much fun doing this. They like to ride their bikes in the dark and ride the big 4wheeler. They are asking to have friends over and have a bonfire. Trey wants to camp out with one of his little friends and the girls just want to have a sleepover. Sounds like a fun night to me.....maybe sometime before it gets too cold, you know, in my spare time!

Monday Morning Chit-Chat

Happy Monday, friends! Well, here we are again. Another Monday morning, another fresh week, and another cup of coffee that I'm hoping will magically give me the energy to accomplish all the things on my to-do list. Spoiler alert: It probably won't. But I'm going to drink it anyway. I thought we would start this week with a little old-fashioned chit-chat. Nothing too serious, nothing life changing. Just a little catching up on life lately, a few random thoughts, and whatever else happens to pop into my head. you know, the kind of conversation we'd have if you stopped by my house, pulled up a chair, and stayed a while. Be Her: When Our Ideal Self Becomes an Idol

Ella Langley's "Be Her" got me thinking about something I think a lot of women struggle with- the woman we think we should be. You know her. She's more disciplined. More confident. More put together. She exercises, keeps the house clean, reads her Bible every morning, never loses her patience, and somehow always has good hair. We tell ourselves, If I could just be her..... And there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow. But what happens when the woman we want to become turns into an idol? Sometimes we become so focused on our ideal self that we forget to ask God who He wants us to become.
