It was a pretty ordinary afternoon. We had finished our dinner. Makena was making loom bracelets and doing her homework, Carlie and Trey were outside splashing around in the hot tub, and Carl and I were painting cabinets for a renovation project. Nothing too exciting. After a while Carlie went inside, Trey changed and came back out to "bird hunt", and I got bored with painting. So while Carl and I are talking Trey came up to me with a big 'ole smile and a handful of "flowers". He said, "I picked these long flowers for you so you can put them in your owl vase".
