Sewing Like A Pro!

If you will recall Makena got a sewing machine last year for her birthday. She had made a few things off and on throughout the year, but really just needex some guidence on getting projects started. When we found out there was a summer class for beginners she begged to sign up. So shr started her sewing classes on Tuesday. I have to admit, I was a little nervous to take her there and leave her, especially not really "knowing" the people who taught the class or the students who were going to be in there. I was relieved when we got there and saw a few people that I knew. This session they made bags. Of course she did great and really enjoyed herself. She even signed up for the second summer session in July! I am very proud of her :)

I stole this one from the French Seam's Facebook page because it had the whole class. Makena was happy because she wasn't the oldest or the tallest in the class!

This is her bag up close. She was being a toot and wouldn't get her picture made with it! In her defense she was sick most of the week (maybe that's why she was so grouchy ). She was determined to go to class every day no matter how bad she felt.
She says she is going to make me throw pillows for every holiday to put on my couch. We even picked out the fabrics we liked in Hancock's. I am glad that she has picked out a hobby that she can find useful throughout her life. You go, Kena!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
