Carlie with her science project

Here she is explaining her project to one of the judges.
They were very impressed. Her category was thermochemistry and all I can tell you is that she had a luminol kit....it was very thorough and detailed.

This was the very first time we did anything with our local co-op. I've always had good intentions, but it just never worked out. I was sure to make plans for this, even though we already had to miss for the Capitol Day. Carlie really wanted to compete,  and man did she bring it! She wasn't a bit intimidated by the other kids, and she didn't know a soul! The whole idea about homeschoolers being unsocialized is absolutely preposterous! My kids can interact, when they choose to. It is all of our rights to be selectively social. I'm trying to instill in them the balance and importance  of the company that we keep and being kind to everyone. We are a work in progress.
I am thankful for the work ethic that Carlie possesses. She always puts her best foot forward and does strives for excellence.

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch his wings.  He has a re-directed path now and I pray e

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't say we went swi
