Wow....it's been a while since I last posted. March has been pretty busy and extremely long!! Right before the farm show Makena was sick, the day after we got back from the show Carl got sick then Trey got a touch of "it", then me and Carlie. I really think it was just some sort of cold virus. Thankfully we have averted the flu and stomach virus so far. So by the time that ended it was already the end of the second week of the month.
And this weather....ABSOLUTELY NUTS!! It has been in the upper 50's one day and the 80's the next. Of course now everything has a lovely yellow coating on it and I have been living off of Allegra D!
Here are some of the things that have been going on around here.
First of all there is bowling. I missed one week out of the 10 weeks they bowled. That was also the day of the hamburger supper at church and the day an old friend of mine passed away. That was a lot of info in one sentence. I missed because I was sick and didn't want to infect anyone. Carlie was invited to go to the state bowling championship and is SUPER excited about it. I was a little reluctant to say yes, mainly because it is on both a Saturday AND Sunday in Cabot...and we try not to do things like that on Sundays. I just don't want to make it a habit. We finished up this past Saturday. Trey got $100 in scholarship money and another $100 for winning the bonus between him and a little girl. Carlie got $40 and Makena got $30. I was proud of all three of them. They met new friends and learned a new sport. They are already talking about bowling in the summer and the fall.
My friend Dana passed away of ovarian cancer. They call it "the silent killer" and that is exactly what it proved to be. It was already at stage IV when they found it. She started chemo in December and passed in March. We hadn't been really close in a while, but it was just because we had gotten busy with life and kind of went in different directions. She left two teenage daughters behind who are the exact same age as Carlie and Makena😢 and that just breaks my heart. That one kind of did a number on me.
We had a hamburger supper at church to raise money for our youth to go to the Arkansas Youth Conference in April. We did pretty well. Lots of people like to get goodies from the bake sale. I was sick this day but was determined to do my part but I didn't make it to church the next day.
The chickens are still doing great. They are used to us and are fairly easy to catch now. Trey gets up early every morning to feed them. I'm glad we got them but really ready for them to start laying☺
Last weekend was beautiful! We fired the old jet boat up and took her out on the river! The water was too cold for swimming but we enjoyed a nice boat ride. We are excited about taking her out this summer and tubing. I spent a lot of time on the river when I was growing up. My kids on the other hand have grown up in the pool!
