Arkansas Youth Conference 2022

Look who greeted us as we walked in :)

Part of our group eating at The Flying Fish.

Trey, Noah, and the adults sans me and Tim.

Our group minus Tim and Jamie.

Such a great environment.

"Renown" lead the worship this year.

Brent Crowe was our speaker for the weekend.

Jered Hall was the illusionist/our entertainment.
The kids really enjoyed him.

Makena and the Ascend group from Arkadelphia

There are two kinds of people in this world:  The kind who sleep great in hotels (left) and those who get no sleep because of the first group snoring so loudly (right)
.
Yes, he does snore at home but for some reason it is worse when we have to stay in a hotel room. I think he was the only person in the room that slept.  When I got up, Trey was on the floor and Makena had on her earbuds and sleep mask.

The "theme" for this year's conference was Focus  "Let your eyes look directly forward." Proverbs 4:25

The conference was split into four sessions:

1. It is possible to experience God's love...when we know God intimately and trust Him completely.

2. It is possible to understand God's love...when we believe "the Lord will provide."

3. It is possible to trust in difficult times...when we believe that God is sufficient and sovereign.

4. It is possible to tell a redemption-love-kind-of-story...when Jesus is the hero of your story.

The text was from Genesis 22:1-19, and there was just so much good stuff.

To be completely honest with you, I didn't want to go to this conference.   My mom usually does this  with the kids in our church (we are a small church and don't have a ton of kids...) but she had surgery on the 4th,  so I (reluctantly) told her I would go in her place.  I had been dreading it all week.  I don't love to be gone away from my house.  I'm a homebody.

But I went, and I can say that I enjoyed the speaker and that the Holy Spirit is still working on my heart from things that were said over the weekend. I believe the kids had a great time as well.  I was also able to get to know some of the kids a little better.  Even though I am still recovering from little sleep, I am truly thankful for this opportunity.

Much Love,

Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
