The Mountains Win Again

Good Monday friends! We are back from our much needed getaway and had such a wonderful time.  It's always good to leave and just as good to get back home! I always feel rejuvenated and motivated when I first return home.  While I wait to switch some laundry around, I thought I may as well touch on some of the highlights of our trip :)

The views on our way up to the mountains were beautiful!

We found a mural :)

Trey loves crab!
We were thankful for a nice cool spot to eat with a beautiful view.
If you are ever in Branson, head down to Branson Landing.  There are tons of shops and restaurants. You can also see the fire and water show.

It is a fun atmosphere

The absolute sweetest girl I know!

We did a tacky typical tourist thing and went to the Titanic Museum.
Makena has wanted to go for years!  We all had a really good time :)

Steering the ship into the night.

Our Captain :)

We found it ironic that T got the boarding pass of a musician.
Sadly, he perished in the sinking of the Titanic.

This was very cool to experience.
It told the different times (approximate, of course) that the sloping occured as the ship was sinking, and it allowed you to try and stand on that angle. It wasn't an easy task.  That was always one of my least favorite parts of the movie...seeing the people slide down or grasping on to anything in sight.

Carl and Trey went for a helicopter ride out to the lake. Makena and I passed and got some yummy pineapple Dole's whipped yogurt.

Carl taking a video (who is surprised?!)

Makena had mango and I had the pineapple.
So delicious!

We also had a lake day. I believe this was the only picture that I took. It was very pretty and definitely a great place to stay cool!

Table Rock Lake

During our stay Silver Dollar City had their Midnight Madness going on where you could get in from 5-midnight half price.  I thought it would be a good idea because we were planning to go anyway and it would be cooler in the evening, right?  Wrong.  It was HOT and CRAZY! I have never stood in lines so long in my life and I mean for EVERYTHING! We had a good time, and it was super cool to be in the park and riding roller coasters that late but O.M.G.!

The scenery really is pretty at Silver Dollar City

He was my riding partner on most rides.
The Time Traveler was the newest ride and it was pretty awesome but I only opened my eyes for about 5% of the time. Spinning upside down was a little extreme!
Also, the hair had to go up!

The fam bam!

Wildfire
Makena snapped this photo after we rode.

Carl and Trey were waiting for a safety check on Outlaw Run.
They said this one was super creepy to ride at night.
It is all wooden and Trey said you couldn't see anything in front of you.
Makena and I opted out of this one because of her back.  It is a pretty rough one.
Thankfully we made it through the whole trip without any problems!

They did a fireworks show this night since it was a special night in the park.

We also rode the train in the dark.  We got "held-up" by bank robbers

They also had a concert.
We didn't stay for all of that because we were hot, and our feet hurt by that time.
Very fun experience for sure.

On our way back home, we stopped at The Buffalo National River.

He was being so goofy

Trey found a rock
"I'm a potato!"

Makena is my little mermaid.

We had a nice getaway.  We did a lot of things we had never done, and some we have done many times.  I am thankful that Carl was able to take off. I was honestly getting a little worried about him burning out.
Beth-ism of the day: People are people...not machines.

We still don't have a baby yet (I was hoping that it wouldn't happen while we were gone!). This is part of the reason the mountains won out over the beach this year. The beach is about four hours farther than the mountains for us.  Carlie is still working and will be 37 weeks this week.  Bless her heart, she is tired and swollen.  Her doctor has been gone to Oklahoma (where his family is) because his wife caught COVID and then had a stroke.  She has been moved to a rehabilitation center so he came back to town yesterday, but he currently has the virus now.  His office has been keeping a good eye on her, but it is still nerve-racking knowing that she will have to go to Little Rock to have someone she doesn't know deliver her baby (if she were to go into labor before he is well).  Prayers for this situation are greatly appreciated!
This week I will be in full school prep.  Trey starts on the 15th and Makena moves back on the 22nd!

Much Love,
Beth

Three Doses of Happiness

Laundry piled up, dishes in the sink, phone buzzing with many emails, toys all over the house.......sounds like an absolute perfect time to go outside and relax with my kiddos! Today has been a VERY warm day.  It probably would be more enjoyable if we didn't know that it would more than likely storm tonight!  Carlie didn't go to school today because she was up a lot last night with stomach issues.  She never vomited, but she was very nauseated and has had stomach cramps.  She hasn't felt bad all day, just off and one.  We might be going to the doctor tomorrow p.m. because Sunday night I noticed that she has a little bulge above her belly button, I wasn't concerned about it (really) until her stomach started hurting and she said that it hurt to tough.  Maybe it's nothing, but people keep mentioning hernia to me.  Please pray that she feels better soon.  Also tomorrow is the big day....academic advising.  I remember the very first time I was advised (somewhere a
