A Time of Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving! We have had a pretty great weekend on the homestead.  Our festivities began on Wednesday night.  That's when we celebrated our very first Thanksgiving dinner at our house.  Carl fried a turkey, and the girls and I made the sides and desserts.  I was a bit nervous, but so excited to be able to sit around the table with just our family and give thanks.  I mean, we do have so much to be thankful for, starting with this little girl:

Wrenley Elizabeth

I even broke out the real dishes, who am I?!

All of us girls

Uncle Rooster loves his niece :)

Oh Pappy! Wren wants some of what you have!!

Caleb got her all tucked in!
It was such a fun night.

On Thanksgiving Day we went to my Grammy's for lunch.  This was our first major holiday without my Papa.  It was very different to say the least.  We invited our preacher and his family to come eat with our family since they didn't have anywhere to go.  Ever since I can remember, my family has welcomed our pastors/families to eat (Easter, Thanksgiving, Mother's and Father's day, etc).  My Papa was BIG on families.  He didn't grow up with his for very long, so he knew how it felt to not have anyone to be with.

Goofballs had the frame upside down!

After we ate lunch we were of course stuffed, so we went home and took a nap :)   It literally rained (and I mean POURED) all day.
On Friday we went to Carl's mom's house.  It was only his mom and his sister that showed up but it was nice to be able to visit.

I am thankful that God has blessed me with much more than I deserve.

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
