Happy Monday, friends! What a week! We had tornados, snow, freezing temperatures, and now lots of rain all within a week's time. Like the weather, things have been on crazy around here as well. Let me just start off with a few snow pictures first.
Our house.
I took this from inside the truck, and didn't take the time to edit it.
The snow looks pretty, but I hate it!
Our church.
Looks so pure :)
And the river.
We stayed at the top of the hill 😊
It's funny how the snow makes the river look especially brown 😒
Being stuck inside for two or three days definitely made the month of January seem longer than it actually is. It's like that Energizer battery that keeps going, and going, and going...!
After a couple of days most people went back to work but the schools remained closed, so on Thursday and Friday, Wrenley came to visit us!
We bundled up and went to feed the chickens, which she calls "Bok Boks".
She found this hat in Carl's truck and put it on her head, and she was ready to ride!
And in case you are wondering, she has yet to actually say "BeBe" instead, she calls me "brr "and sometimes it sounds like she is saying "boom". My kids think that one is hilarious. So who knows, I may be Boom, lol.
She may be a little spoiled!
Every time she does something, there is always someone clapping for her!
Here she is with her great grandmother (Nanny) and her great-great grandmother (Grammy).
We all think she is GRAND!
Makena was at school during all the snow. She is like her mama and prefers warm weather and sunshine, so she didn't go out and play in it. Her classes didn't start until Thursday, and she came home on Friday afternoon (she won't be home for the next 2 weeks 😒). She is a going to be leader in a conference for girls on the second week of February, and she has training for that. She is also giving a devotional at Ouachita today at noon. I am so proud of her for stepping outside her comfort zone. It's not an easy thing to do but she excels when she does. I just know God has great things in her future!
On Saturday, Carlie and Caleb invited us to their house for soup. Trey went out with his friends, so it was just the three of us. Carlie did an amazing job with the soup, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Wrenley.
Pappy is wrapped around that little finger too!
Aunt Kena is getting all the love she can while she is home 💖
Now I'm going to go on a not-so-happy note. One of the hardest things as a parent is to watch your child struggle. It doesn't matter if it's with school, social situations, or making good decisions. You just wish you could hold them tight and fix it all. This is especially true for your older children (more specifically, my 18-year-old). I know my parents felt this way with both me and my sister. It hurts to watch them fall, but it's not right for us to always step in and cushion that fall. This weekend was one of those love-them-through-it times.
Finally, at church on Sunday, Trey asked Jesus to be his Savior. In a broken state, he realized that he was never saved. I have prayed for this for a long time. He has been a completely different "kid" ever since. Like it was a huge relief off of his back. God is a God of many chances and His grace is always enough!
So, while January has been a long month with lots of ups and downs, the Lord has been so good to me and has supplied me with more blessings than I deserve.
Much Love,
Beth
