There's something about the weekends that feel like a breath of fresh air--two short days that somehow manage to hold a whole collection of memories.
It was a great weekend here on the homestead, but to be honest, I could have used another day! On Friday, we were supposed to be moving Carlie and Caleb into their new house, but there is no new house now. It turned out (during the final walk-through) that the foundation wasn't in good shape. I don't know why the inspector didn't notice that two weeks ago. I can only explain it as being of God. He was taking care of them, and that was just not the house for them!
But their house is sold. Thankfully, Caleb's parents have offered to have them stay there until they find something, and they know that they can always stay here if they need to. We are continuing to pray that God sends them the right house. Carl and I helped move a few big things on Saturday, and Carl will help Caleb move the last bit today at lunch. It was such a cute little starter house, and it's a little sad to see them sell it. Hopefully, they are on to bigger and better things.
This cutie always lightens the mood!
I'm mean, who could be down in the dumps with that cuteness?!
On Saturday evening Carl, Makena, and I went to the river. Trey was with a friend, so we just took the fishing boat and Makena took her jet ski.
Makena used my car, but I trust her :)
We had lunch at our house on Sunday after church. My dad made his chili and we had chili dogs, Fritos, and cinnamon rolls. It was delicious, and we just lit some fall-scented candles and pretended that it was 20 degrees cooler :)
Maggie agrees that these are the dog days of summer!!
As the weekend wraps up and the Sunday evening quiet sets in, I can't help but feel grateful for simple moments that made the past few days special. From the laughter shared, to the little adventures in between, it's a reminder that joy often comes in the everyday things we can so easily overlook. Here's to carrying that same energy and gratitude into the week ahead--because while the weekends may be short, their memories can stretch far beyond Monday morning.
Much Love,
Beth
