Ready to be dunked :)
She was so ready for this!
All wet and all smiles!
Our pastor presenting her with a Bible from the church
Nana and Papaw T.R. got to come visit with us a while
before and stayed for the baptism. Makena is very blessed to
have two sets of grandparents that rejoice with us in the fact
that she was saved and baptized.
Wow, this has been one crazy weekend to say the least. The girls had no school on Friday...it was a snow day....with NO SNOW!! I have never known the Stuttgart School District to close school in anticipation of snow...it was just NUTS!! Carl was also off work on Friday, so we did a little shopping around town. Saturday we went to Little Rock for some shopping and just a day out of the house. My Grammy fixed Carl dinner for his birthday so we had to be back home by 5:00. About 4:30 I got a call from our pastors wife telling me that I needed to start our church's prayer chain because I young girl who pretty much grew up in our church had been in an accident. So I called my people, only to get a call from her a few minutes later saying that Emily didn't make it. I was very upset, and even though Grammy made a wonderful meal, it was just hard to enjoy. Not only had I known her from birth, but now she was a senior at the same school that my girls attend not to mention someone who Makena really looked up to. She always had an encouraging word, or even just a smile for Makena and that means a lot to a kid who may not have all the self-confidence they need. I was dreading telling her, but I finally did last night and she cried just like I knew she would. I tried to keep it positive by telling her that Emily was a child of God and since now she was too, it doesn't mean goodbye forever, just I"ll see you a little later. It breaks my heart to think of what this family is going through and to tell you the truth I am really dreading this week at school. There were also two other kids from our school in the accident, neither of which were seriously hurt. We are definitely praying for God's comfort and healing right now.
Today was a good day though. It was a beautiful sunny day and Makena was so excited about being baptized. Carl's parents got to come from out of town as well as my sister and her family. I forgot to write about another cute thing Makena said to me the other day. We were riding in the car (which we do a lot of since we live out of town) and she said, "Momma, do you think God will make us neighbors in heaven?" I love that girl, she always puts a smile on my face :)
