Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers's Day!!!  I happen to think that I have some pretty great men in my life.  First of all, my Carl.  He is such a good Daddy.  He's active all the kids lives, always wanting to teach them things like hunting, fishing, growing a garden, etc.  He also teaches them to work hard.  He is seriously one of the hardest workers I know, and he rarely complains about it.  Of course he plays with them too!  Whether it be riding 4wheelers, playing ball, jumping on the trampoline (oh, yes, he does!), take them swimming, he is always eager to play with them.  He is also very helpful to me!  Starting when Carlie was born, he could change a diaper or fix a bottle in his sleep (Carlie never slept!), he can also fix girls hair as good or better than I can!  I guess all those years of brushing and braiding horse hair taught him a few things :)   He can build and fix whatever he wants....which is always helpful ;)  He is the best and I love him SO much!
Makena took this one today, also :)

Next, my Daddy.
Yes, he's silly!
Where do I start?!  He's a pretty awesome guy.  He has always been there for me, and now for my kids too.  He is there when I might call him ranting and raving about something to calm me down.  I go to him for all kinds of advise.  He stepped right in and became the girls basketball coach this year when no one else was volunteering for the job. One of my favorite things that he used to (and sometimes still does) with Trey is to set up a little office for Trey in his office at home (mom might have actually set it up, but Pop allowed it and I know he liked/s it too!).  Trey loves to be like Pop talking on the phone with his customers.  Makena loves to go out to Pops office and just talk to him.  I don't know what they talk about, but she just likes to be out there with him.  Carlie loves her "POP-Eye the Taylor Man" too, even when he rags her about dribbling the ball.
He is also a great spiritual leader.  He studies so hard and puts his all into teaching the adult Sunday School class at our church (and that can sometimes be a tough crowd..participation wise).  I am so proud of his accomplishments at work also.  He is and has always been a good provider for his family.  Thank you for all that you do Dad/Pop, we love you!!

And then there is Papa.

Papa will be 84 in August.  My kids love Papa as do I.  He has always been an active part in my life, and is in my kids life too.  He has been at the kids Thanksgiving Programs, Christmas Programs, Graduations and of course the church stuff.  Carlie and Makena both love to talk to him.  They like to hear about the stuff that he used to do as a kid :)  The other day he make Trey a wooden boat like he used to make for himself when he was a kid.  It has a paddle wheel on the back of it that makes it move.  Trey thinks it's so cool and he wanted to take it with us on our trip for our day at the beach!  It's great they we still have him around.  He has taught Carl so much about working on things and building things.  I know that he will never read this but I wanted to pay tribute to him also.  We love you Papa.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
