Deer Huntin'

Carl has been pretty busy with trying to take all three kids hunting and still finding time to hunt himself.  I think he is surprised at how much the girls like going!  Carlie literally loves it.  He took her a couple of weeks ago and she missed a doe.  Makena went yesterday, and saw nothing but a coon!  Well it was finally Trey's turn and he killed a button buck.  Carl said they couldn't see the horns when he shot it.  He didn't care, though he was just as happy as could be :)

He was so excited, although you can't really tell in this picture.
We ate it and he thought he was going to tell everybody how many pieces they could eat because it was his deer!

Makena isn't nearly as "in" to all of this as the other two are.
She is my girly girl :)

This is the picture Carl sent me when I asked him for a hunting picture!
Really?!

This morning Carl decided he was going to hunt a little in the backyard.  We always have deer back there eating the oats he planted. He expected to see a few does, but boy was he surprised when he saw a HUGE buck.  It wasn't that it had a lot of points, but the size of the deer itself was massive.
The neck on the deer measured 25 inches.  It is a good 9pt.
I know, the tongue sticking out is rather gross!

It's been a pretty good season so far!  The girls still want to go again and actually kill a deer, but I'm not so sure Dear old Dad is ready to give up "his" time yet :)
Just remember, Carl, you created this desire for hunting in them!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
