First Week Success!

I would say that our first week of school was a success! We worked our scheduling issues out, so now we are all good!
Trey says that his favorite classes are Language (what?) and Science, but he also likes Arithmetic! Who is this kid?! I am so pleased that he enjoys learning now. There is no competition with anyone (except himself) which only makes him a stronger student 😊, which makes me a happy Mama..it's a win/win!!
Makena really likes Spanish. Carlie hated it. Makena has been speaking some Spanish since she was 2 or 3. I would teach her little songs, and how to count to 10...and she loved Dora and Diego!!
Carlie and Makena don't agree on a lot, but the do agree that Geometry sucks! I've told them that it is too early to be forming such strong opinions about a subject!! Hopefully it will grow on them.
Carlie likes Physics (thank you Lord) and World History.

For some reason it seems to work out that every Thursday evening we go to the river! This week was no different. Makena and Trey decided to tube this time but Carlie still wouldn't!

Eli and Carlie were having a pizza eating contest! I think he beat her by one piece (technically, he doesn't eat all of the pizza but in his mind HE won). He ate 6 and she at 5!

  Happy Monday, friends! Well, here we are again. Another Monday morning, another fresh week, and another cup of coffee that I'm hoping will magically give me the energy to accomplish all the things on my to-do list. What's Up Wednesday

 Happy What's Up Wednesday! Today I am linking up with  Shay  and  Sheaffer  for another "What's Up Wednesday" Let's do this! What we're eating this week... Be Her: When Our Ideal Self Becomes an Idol

 Ella Langley's "Be Her" got me thinking about something I think a lot of women struggle with- the woman we think we should be.  You know her. She's more disciplined. More confident. More put together. She exercises, keeps the house clean, reads her Bible every morning, never loses her patience, and somehow always has good hair. We tell ourselves, If I could just be her..... And there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow. But what happens when the woman we want to become turns into an idol? Sometimes we become so focused on our ideal self that we forget to ask God who He wants us to become. There's a subtle difference between praying, "Lord, make me more like Christ," and saying, "Lord, help me to become the woman I've decided I need to be." One is surrender.
