Memorial Day Weekend

We had a pretty low-key weekend. Carl worked all weekend (except Sunday), so we couldn't do a lot. This has seemed like the never-ending planting season, but we are thankful for our job nonetheless.
Friday evening we had a graduation celebration for my nephew's 5th grade graduation.  We grilled burgers and ate by the pool. Carl made it in around 6:30 or so and was able to eat with us and play pool basketball with the kids. They all love him.

Let's dig in!

I think somebody missed the goal

Get the ball!

Trey was sneaking cup cakes and peanut butter chewies!

On Saturday we placed flags on the graves of those who served in the military.  The girls stayed home but T and I met my mom, Noah, and Elijah to get the job done.

Trey has it made; Chilling in the pool, getting his feet rubbed!

Sunday is always church day, and today was no exception. We had an awesome Sunday morning service, ate lunch with Grammy and Papa, and then went swimming and back to church. After night church we went over to my parent's house so Carl could help my dad with his mower. All of us girls ended up going into town to get a few things for our fish fry on Monday. We searched the whole town for ice cream salt! We finally called my Grammy and she had some!!
I had to sneak a quick picture of Carlie singing a special with Anna Grace during Sunday morning service.

On Sunday evening my niece, Ellie Kate, sang a special with the (unwanted) help of Pop!
Trey also did Amazing Grace in the guitar, but I didnt take his pic, shhh. Mom fail, for sure!

Monday was a long day! Trey got up and went over to my parent's house by 10 or so to help cook the fish. He was Pop's helper since Carl was working (again). Thankfully he was able to drop in for a quick bite to eat just as we were about to start eating. We went swimming with a few friends then Trey had piano practice for his recital at 4. Carl made it in by 5 because it was too dry to plant (which is what he said earlier that day) and his a/c went out in his tractor. He gets so frustrated sometimes, but he's not the boss, so he just does what he is supposed to. I know it is hard for him. If his Dad were still alive they would be farming together. God knows better than we do. One day everything will be perfect: no worry, no debt, no sorrow. That will never happen here on this earth, but thank God, heaven is in my future.
Back to Monday. After Carl got home we ate and then went to eat homemade ice cream with the family. It was good, but honestly I would rather have store bought.
We came back to the house and just chilled in the backyard. We are thoroughly enjoying our fence and the privacy it gives. We can sit back there and play outdoor games by the light of the moon (and night light).

Of course in the midst of all of our fun and festivities, we take time to be thankful for those who have fought for our freedom and for those who protect those freedoms. As we know, freedom really isn't free. Everything is paid for with a price. For some it was/is missing time with their own families to ensure our freedom. Yet for some, they paid the ultimate price of giving their lives for our freedom. To all of them, we say "Thank you"!

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
