Happy Birthday, Carlie!

On Sunday, November 12, 2000 at 8:05 I gave birth to my first baby girl.  After a mere 3 hours of labor and no pain medicine, I was thrilled to hold my tiny 4lb 12.oz baby.  Do you know how small 4lb. 12 oz. is?  It was almost like her blanket weighed more than she did.  She was so pretty with lots of black hair and that pretty pink bow in her hair.  She scared the crap out of me. Carl on the other hand acted like a pro!  He changed her first diaper and probably gave her the first bottle.  I think that is when my anxiety kicked in full blast.  I was scared that she wasn't getting enough to eat, that she couldn't come home with me, that she would have to go to a different hospital than me...it was just very stressful for a new mother. We made it though.  Just like we made it through those first 2 or 3 years of no sleep and I mean YEARS people.  She is still an early riser but has learned to be quiet and let others sleep. We made it through gymnastics and dance, preschool, kindergarten, guitar lessons, beginning high school, starting her first college classes.  It has just gone by too fast.  To think that it has been 18 years just blows my mind. I am proud of all of your accomplishments so far and I love you more than you will ever know.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
