Happy Labor Day friends! If you were blessed to have the day off be thankful for that break, if you were grinding it out like every other work day, be thankful for that as well. We are just plain thankful around here!
It's that time of year again when Carl goes misssing. Well, not really misssing, he's just not around as much. That can only mean one thing, it's harvest time.

Carl contributed these awesome pictures for the blog today. Isn't he just the sweetest?!
While he's working at the farm, we are here at home, having a regular school day. Makena and Trey had tests at the end of last week and Makena had one today. I hate to lose steam when we are on a roll! We will be taking off tomorrow because Makena has an appointment with her neurosurgeon in Little Rock. We are hoping she will officially be released. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be, but we are just trying to be extra careful this go around. She is really eager to find a job but I am a little more hesitant. I just don't want her to have to go through another surgery.
Carlie was off school today but has been super busy studying for some pretty important tests she has coming up both this week and next week. When she passes them she will be considered a sophomore in her surgical tech program. Clinicals are right around the corner!! She is excited to get into the OR.
We had lunch with my parents today. Carlie and Makena made a quick trip to town to pick up some pizza for lunch and I made a lemon cake. Not the most nutritional meal, but it hit the spot. As soon as we got back home Trey went out to the chicken coop to make sure they had plenty of food and water (something he was probably supposed to do before we ate lunch). Trey called me and said that we got an egg!
At first I thought he was playing a trick on me because, that's what Trey does! I walked out to the coop and there it was: one little egg! We knew it was getting time for them to start laying. I wish I knew which hen it was...I could always set up a coop-cam. When they all start laying, I should get a dozen eggs a day. When we had chickens before Trey would sell them to our neighbor, my grandmother, and my mom. Maybe that could be Makena's new job! I feel pretty safe with her doing that.
Much Love,
Beth
