Back to School (kind of)

Hey friends!  We have had a very crazy first week of school here.  Makena started her first week of school at home in isolation.  She tested positive for Covid on Sunday (but had been having very mild symptoms since Thursday).  We honestly just thought it was just allergies.  No fever, no terrible cough.  On Monday she went and had an antibody infusion.  Other than her veins rolling and having to be poked three times to get the I V in, she did very well.  So well that she was feeling almost completely well on Tuesday.  Her main complaint was headache, runny nose, and tiredness.
It was a very stressful start to the school year! She did some classes via Zoom and had all of her syllabi here so she was able to do her assignments and turn them in (thank-you, technology!).

On Friday we has a mini photoshoot.

And then there were these:
How's this for a pose?!

Take my picture.

He gone!

Trey was done after about 10 minutes but Makena was jus thrilled to be out of the house! We stayed out until the mosquitoes got too bad.  Needless to say, I got a ton of pictures.  It still feels weird to me to only have two of my kids in photos, like I'm leaving poor Carlie out.
Whew, what a week.  We are thankful that Makena is feeling better and that she will be able to move into her dorm on Sunday!  We are praying that everyone else stays well.

"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation. Be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

Happy January 74th! Ok but really, why does January seem to go on FOREVER?! Today I am linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for Friday Favorites! This was definitely a favorite moment from this week!  Our 47th President, Donald J. Trump! Since Monday was also MLK day, I had the pleasure of watching sweet Wrenley.  Celebrating my niece, Ellie Kate's 15th birthday was definitely a favorite! I also watched Wrenley on Wednesday because she was a little under the weather. She had fun playing and getting lots of ice cream and popsicles! Wrenley will always be my favorite. On this day she wanted to "work" like BeBe. She's so precious, even with her little bedhead! Good Music is a favorite. Play some old-school country music and we are golden :) My favorite meal this week. It seems like forever since I made a home-cooked meal! Cajun baked chicken, corn (because Trey loves corn), broccoli, mashed potatoes with white gravy, and rolls were on the menu, and every...
