Sandy Toes & Salty Air: Beach Trip 2025

The sand in your toes, the salt in the air; nothing beats a trip to the beach! We had the most wonderful time last week in Gulf Shores, Alabama, or as we like to call it, "our beach". We could venture out, but we know where we are going, we know the good places to eat, we know the good places to stay and shop, and for this type A mom, that is a little slice of heaven!
Note to self: check Trey's bag and make sure there is no harmonica next year!

PERFECTION!

We ate at the Pink Pony Pub as soon as we got settled in our condo.

Love these two!

He was the most excited to be out of the car!

He's the best :)

This was his idea 💕

Seeing your name on the back of 4 chairs and 2 umbrellas means it's gonna be a good week :)

The best view with my little fine-feathered friends
One day Trey talked us into going out on the banana ride. I thought, "oh yeah, that looks pretty tame". That was not the case. The four of us along with two older ladies (probably in their 60's) were in for the roughest ride I could have imagined. Carl ended up in the floor along with the two older ladies. We were all thinking the guy on the jet ski would ease up after a while...wrong again! He didn't let up until we stopped! We laughed so hard the whole time. It was good for us..even if we were sore the next day :)

As our resident historian, Makena made sure that we had a historical site to visit. In all of our years of going to Gulf Shores, we have never gone to Fort Morgan. It was very educational and a lot of fun too.
Even Trey enjoyed it!

This was a replica of the soldiers quarters.

Makena was our guide :)

As we were leaving the Fort, we spotted this little crab.

After walking the Fort (outside), Trey was ready to leave. Makena, however, was just getting started and insisted that we go inside the museum. Trey should really know better when going with her. It was a nice museum. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they had a pretty cool gift shop. We discussed taking the fairy over to Dauphin Island but decided that it would take too much time and we really just wanted to go back to the beach.

This is a lantern from the lighthouse that was at Fort Morgan.
It was beautiful in person.

We made a quick stop at the market, then headed to the beach.

I don't know where Trey was at this time, probably in the water, throwing a football with some guys he made friends with.

Like I said, I really didn't take many pictures, and I was hardly on my phone. I looked at it one evening at dinner and I had 58%, and that is very unusual! Poor Carl should have left his phone in the condo or car the whole trip because he was bothered with work almost every day. That was super annoying.

It was a fun trip. Everything is different when you have big kids. Not bad different, just different.
I am thankful that we had this trip together. Everything really is better at the beach :)

Much Love,
Beth

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

Happy January 74th! Ok but really, why does January seem to go on FOREVER?! Today I am linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for Friday Favorites! This was definitely a favorite moment from this week!  Our 47th President, Donald J. Trump! Since Monday was also MLK day, I had the pleasure of watching sweet Wrenley.  Celebrating my niece, Ellie Kate's 15th birthday was definitely a favorite! I also watched Wrenley on Wednesday because she was a little under the weather. She had fun playing and getting lots of ice cream and popsicles! Wrenley will always be my favorite. On this day she wanted to "work" like BeBe. She's so precious, even with her little bedhead! Good Music is a favorite. Play some old-school country music and we are golden :) My favorite meal this week. It seems like forever since I made a home-cooked meal! Cajun baked chicken, corn (because Trey loves corn), broccoli, mashed potatoes with white gravy, and rolls were on the menu, and every...
