Okay, so I'm not a BookTok girlie. I don't have a cute little reading nook with perfectly organized bookshelves, and you probably won't find me filming dramatic reactions to plot twists. But do I love a good book? Absolutely. and do I have a TBR (to be read) list that's growing faster than I can keep up with? You better believe it!
Every now and then, I find myself scrolling through book recommendations, reading reviews, and adding yet another title to my never-ending list. At this point, collecting books I want to read and actually reading them might as well be two separate hobbies.
So, I thought it would be fun to pretend I'm a BookTok influencer for a day and share a few books that have caught my attention lately. We've got a little romance, some suspense, a few questionable characters, and hopefully enough plot twists to keep things interesting.
Get comfortable and let's talk books! And fair warning, your TBR list might be a little longer by the time we're finished.
First off, we will start with a romance. Yes, I said ROMANCE! The book is "Long Story Short" by Kat Singleton. It is actually about a romance author (Josie) who is struggling to finish her latest manuscript. She heads to the Hamptons in hopes of finding inspiration. There she meets her charming, wealthy and irresistibly persistent neighbor, Tyson Bishop. What begins as flirtation and an unexpected source of inspiration quickly turns into something much deeper. Filled with witty banter, undeniable attraction, and heartfelt moments, this neighbors-to-lovers romance is all about finding love when you least expect it. Sounds like a good book, for a romance book :)

Okay, okay, enough of that "mushy love stuff" (if you're a "My Best Friend's Wedding" fan, that reference is for you!). Let's get to one of the most unpredictable books I have ever read. Look Closer by David Ellis is a psychological thriller filled with secrets, lies, betrayal, and revenge. Simon and Vicky appear to be a perfectly ordinary, wealthy Chicago couple, but behind closed doors, their marriage is anything but normal. As the story unfolds, it becomes nearly impossible to tell who is telling the truth and who is manipulating whom. With shocking twists, unreliable characters, and an interesting plot, this book will keep you guessing until the very last page. NOTHING is quite what it seems and everyone has something to hide. I just finished it and this is a warning to look out for that whiplash!

Kill For Me, Kill For You by Steve Cavenaugh is another twisty psychological thriller about two women who have both experienced heartbreaking losses and are desperate for revenge. When they meet, they come up with a plan: each will kill the person responsible for ruining the other's life. Sounds simple enough, right? But nothing goes quite as planned, and things get complicated fast. with secrets, unexpected twists, and plenty of moments that make you question everything, this is one of those books that keeps you guessing right up until the end! This sounds very intriguing to me!

Sometimes I just need a read that will pull me in instantly. You will definitely find that in Charlie Donlea's Some Choose Darkness. This thriller jumps between the past and present. In 1979, a serial killer terrorizes Chicago, leaving behind a trail of missing women and unanswered questions. Decades later, forensic reconstructionist Rory Moore finds secrets that were never meant to come to light. As she pieces together what really happened, she realizes there's much more to the story than anyone ever imagined. With creepy twists, dark secrets, and plenty of suspense, this is the kind of book that keeps you turning pages and second-guessing everything! This one just might be my next read!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some fictional people to obsess over, plot twists to unravel, and probably another five books to add to my list before I even finish the first one.
Your turn! Have you read any of these? What's a book that you think EVERYONE needs to read? I'm always looking for another good excuse to make my TBR list longer!
Much Love,
Beth
