You're A Grand Old Flag!

Our attempt at a Flag Cake!

This scares me a little!

Carl and Trey about to take the plunge

What a beautiful day!!  We went to church this morning and then had our 5Th Sunday services that included potluck and singing (just not at the same time!).  The kids wanted to help me make a flag cake, so I let them do it...I made the cake last night and then this morning before church I let them add the strawberries and blueberries.  They loved that they got to help! After church it was time to head to the pool and thankfully today, Carl was home to play with Trey.  He LOVES to have someone to play with in the pool.  He is getting a lot more brave when it comes to swimming without his floaties.  He did this last year, but he's just remembering that he can do it again.  He's even figured out how to make himself go to the bottom of the pool to retrieve dive rings :)  The girls are old pros at the pool.  They play all kinds of different games, and are really excited to have friends come and swim with them.  Yesterday Bonnie came to swim with them and believe it or not the three of them play really well together.  Bonnie is a very sweet girl, though.  She always is the first to make sure no one is left out :)
We had a fish fry at my Papaw's yesterday afternoon and  Carl actually got to come.  We got to see lots of family that we don't get to see that often and have a nice visit.  The food was really good too!
Tomorrow Carl has to work--BOO!!  Maybe one of these little showers will come and he'll get off early.  I think they only have 160 acres of beans left to plant, and I know they have to get it done, but I just hate it that he can't be with us.  We are planning to spend the whole day at the pool and having cook outs at both lunch and dinner.
Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day Weekend!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for the first Friday Favorites of 2025! Over the past three weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend more time with Wrenley. She is growing up so much. She is speaking in full sentences and is a clown to boot! We've enjoyed lots of naps in BeBe's bed, playing with baby dolls (one of her favorite things), and since I have to pick her up before 7 a.m. on the days she stays with me, we enjoy getting her favorites: donuts (nonuts) and hotcakes from McDonald's -not at the same time though! Snug as a bug in a rug! She loves her Ky Ky Another favorite is a clean kitchen! We have had our house in a bit of chaos like I'm sure everyone else has with all the holiday festivities (and with Carl being off). I am glad to have everything in its proper place! That ray of sunshine is therapy for my soul! The next thing on my favorites list is Carl's chili. We had it last night and will probably have leftovers for a few day...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
