Lace Family Reunion

Tired and weary from a week full of travels, we made our way up to the Annual Lace Family Reunion in Cherry Valley.  I say Annual, but this was our first time (as a family) to attend one.  It was very nice and you could tell that a lot of effort was put into making it that way.  They had prizes, games, good food, and birthday cake.  I don't really know whose birthday it was, besides Uncle Bob.  I probably still wouldn't know who Uncle Bob is, but we sang Happy Birthday to him anyway!

Makena let Trey sleep on her lap.

Carl, his mom and the kids

You can tell by his eyes that he wasn't completely well.

Carlie an Makena got to play with their cousin, Emma.  Emma lives in Iowa and we haven't seen her in bout 4 years, so it was good that they got to play together.

The night before the reunion Trey came in from playing outside and started complaining about his neck hurting....and he looked sick.  So, I took his temp and it was over 101.  I gave him Tylenol and made him rest.  He went to bed early and slept with us.  I just couldn't put him all the way back in his room!  So, when he woke up Saturday he had a low-grade fever, so we (Carl) decided it would be okay to go ahead and go.  I wasn't happy because I knew he didn't feel good, and he kept complaining about his throat.  He ended up sleeping most of the way there and did pretty good.  By the time we left, I started feeling bad too, and sure enough by the time we got home I had a fever too!  I'm still not sure what it was.  The sore throat lasted about 3 or 4 days and the fever only lasted a day or two.  It was probably something we caught on our trip.  Thankfully nobody else got it :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
