January Favorites

Praise the Lord it is finally January 31st (insert me doing a happy dance). There should definitely be a song about how long it seems to be every. year. I mean we already have "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Long December", why not Everlasting January or something like that?!
 Ok, so I've rambled enough. Here are some of my favorites for the month of January!
First and foremost are my new cowboy boots that I received as a Christmas present. I love them! 

Next are my fringe booties. For some reason I have been on a southwest/cowboy kick lately!

I have also been loving this puffy jacket in the color misty pink.
It is very cozy and super cute!

Ok, let's talk beauty products for a few...
This eye cream by Clinique is the bomb! 

Don't laugh too hard at my "old lady" cream! I like this because unlike so many other moisturizers, it isn't oily! Just because my skin may get dry in the winter doesn't mean I want it greasy oily! 

Yall...this stuff smells so good (Rose), it leaves your hair super soft, and it is pretty😊😊
But mainly the first two things. My girls love it too!

These pens though! I use these for my planners and also for grading or correcting school work. They write well and seem to last for a good while. 

Now for some of our favorite TV shows. 
Chrisley Knows Best is definitely one of my guilty pleasures!
It's just so darn funny! Carl wouldn't admit it, but he watches it too!

Carlie and Trey got me hooked on this one. 
The new episodes start next Tuesday and we will be watching!

Ok, so I got over the Duggars after all of the scandalous activity with Josh.
I then started watching the TLC show about the big family (The Willises) with all the singing kids which ended abruptly after, you guessed it, a sexual scandal. So I have sworn off of TLC!  
The Bates are a very conservative Christian family with 19 kids and seem to be scandal free but only time will tell! I have watched them since they appeared with the Duggars, so it is kind of neat to see them all grown up.

Here is the book I was talking about in my last post. Great read. I was reminded of things that I have known for years and I was also encouraged and inspired to put some things into my daily prayers. 

This is also a good one, although I sat it aside temporarily to read the book about praying.


This book was bought for my girls. It is about true beauty and was written by a former Victoria's Secret Model. I haven't started it yet, but I will give it a good once-over before passing it on to them. They also have devotion books that go with it. I'm sure it is fine but you can never be too careful.

And last but not least, Eat That Frog! This is really a book about time management. It kind of goes with the idea that if the first thing you do in the morning is eat a live frog, you can go through your day with the satisfaction of knowing that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you that day. Your "Frog " is your biggest most important task, the one that you will most likely procrastinate on if you don't do something about it. It can also be the task with the greatest impact on your life!

So that's it. Those are my favorites for the month of January.

  Happy Monday, friends! Well, here we are again. Another Monday morning, another fresh week, and another cup of coffee that I'm hoping will magically give me the energy to accomplish all the things on my to-do list. What's Up Wednesday

Be Her: When Our Ideal Self Becomes an Idol

 Ella Langley's "Be Her" got me thinking about something I think a lot of women struggle with- the woman we think we should be.  You know her. She's more disciplined. More confident. More put together. She exercises, keeps the house clean, reads her Bible every morning, never loses her patience, and somehow always has good hair. We tell ourselves, If I could just be her..... And there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow. But what happens when the woman we want to become turns into an idol? Sometimes we become so focused on our ideal self that we forget to ask God who He wants us to become.
