No Friend of Mine

I have found myself falling back into old habits lately. Bad habits. I stay up way too late at night and I struggle to get up by 7:30 the next day. Not only do I stay up too late but I have noticed that since Sunday I haven't had "restful" sleep. I can't get comfortable, tossing and turn all.night.long. I have also woken in the wee hours of the morning, unable to go back to sleep. BUT WHY??  Bad habit #2: picking up my phone first thing. Darn social media...Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat...and the list goes on. When I first get up I head on over the the Gram. This morning that lead me straight to TicTok.   *Sidebar- I have recently tried to make a conscious effort to go to my Bible app because if I have to pick up my phone first thing, at least it can be to fill my head with meaningful words to start my day*   Do you see how that can turn into an hour of scrolling? These beasts we call social media....we have to fuel the beasts. Have you noticed how i

Homestead Happenings: August Edition

Hey friends! Hope you have all had a fantastic week. We are slowly getting back into a routine here. Both Trey and Makena started school this week. I have a college freshman as well as a high school freshman.  From what I can gather Makena has spent many hours in the library studying and has been getting well over 10,000 steps in each day not counting any workouts. She has a pretty busy schedule on MWF but only has two classes on T/TH. I believe she is carrying 16 hours this semester.   College Life  Library time Trey has gotten up anywhere from 7-7:30 and cooked breakfast for me. It's nice having all of these eggs. We have had eggs, ready serve bacon or deer sausage, and toast. I'm rolling with it because I'm sure he will get tired of it soon. I just have to work on getting him to clean up his cooking mess. His classes have been going great. He has taken notes every day in Algebra just like Makena suggested. He doesn't love his physical science class. This is the poin

Move-In Day 2020

Well we did it! On Friday we moved our girl, Makena to college. It is Monday and I am just now able to sit and write about it. I was an emotional mess pretty much all of last week but had to put up a strong front because I didn't want her to know it. She did know it though. She is pretty sensitive to things like that. That is part of why I miss her so much!  No,no...I can't go there! I rode in the car with Makena and Carl and Trey took our car.  Everybody was busy putting her stuff together and in order. I had forgotten how stressful this can be. Everyone is hot, emotions are high...but we did it and nobody died🤣 We finally got her bed together after we sent the boys out❤  Desk area complete! Her smile says it all. I'm a proud mom of a Tiger!! Makena and her Daddy Makena and her Nanny made this sign for her door. Makena and her roommate, Ashlyn Welcome Home gathering on the lawn. God love her, she has spent his whole life trying to keep him out of trouble! He's all on

The Weekend: Super Busy Edition

Hey friends! Hope you all had a good weekend. It was a very fast-paced one here on the homestead.   Friday night we had a baby shower for a friends daughter at our church. Like I mentioned in my previous post, it was a small group. It was a nice shower.                 Me with Bonnie and Makena Faith Saturday was just going to be an ordinary day. Carl had to work because one of his co-workers was out of town. We were just trying to soak up every last minute with our sweet Makena Faith. I knew that Caleb and Carlie were going to a fancy restaurant..one that requires super nice clothes. I was also aware that the day after we returned from vacation Carlie's boyfriend, Caleb had talked with Carl about marrying Carlie. I had been holding that secret inside for almost a week (Makena and Trey knew and I finally told my mom on Friday). Sure enough Saturday was the day. She sent me a picture of her ring and a plate of dessert that said "Congratulations and Best Wishes". We are su

Friday Favorites

Hey friends! Today I'm linking up with Andrea at  Momfessionals  for another Friday Favorites!  Coming back from vacation can sometimes be a bit of a bummer. I was excited to come home because I started my Beachbody MBF program. I woke up and got to my workout first thing....when Tuesday rolled around I felt like I was dying because of all the squats I did. Seriously, I was so sore I couldn't even sit down on the toilet without being in pain. Carl found it hilarious, I did not. Took a muscle realxer and went to bed and praise the Lord, I woke up almost back to normal on Wednesday and I was fully recovered by Thursday! I feel so much better since I started working out. My coach is the sweetest and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience thus far.                  Definitely a favorite! These girls are always a favorite of mine (even when they follow me around the yard like a pack of dogs and steal the cat food from the cats). They are my babies! River time made it on another F

Our Mini Beach Trip

Good Monday morning, friends! We made it back home from our most favorite spot in the qorld: Gulf Shores, Alabama.  We love the beach. This year was so different for us, and most all of them are related to COVID. First and foremost, this was the first time I have EVER gone on vacation without all three kids (well, since I've had three kids). This year Carlie has a *real job* (& for that we are thankful), but since she works in the operating room, she wasn't allowed to go out of the state without having to quarantine for 14 days after returning (thank-you, coronavirus). We knew last year that she would probably have a job and may not be able to go, but momma can always hope! So, she stayed home while we headed eight hours south. It literally killed my momma heart. Because of Covid we couldn't stay in our same condo. The number of occupants per floor was decreased by half, so we stayed about 2 miles east in a condo by the same company. Things were a little more wild on t
