I don't know about you, but every season seems to bring a few things that I can't get enough of. Some are practical, some are silly, and some just make life a little sweeter. So today, I thought I'd share a few of my current obsessions.
Early Summer Mornings
There is something special about a summer morning before the heat settles in. A ice cold can of Alani, a quiet house, and a few minutes on the porch can do wonders for the soul. The older I get, the more I appreciate those peaceful moments before the day gets busy.
BeBe Time
If you've been around here long, you know that spending time with my granddaughter is high on my list. Whether we're playing Barbies, swimming, or just having a snack together, she has a way of making ordinary days feel special. And now with a new grandson in the mix, my heart feels even fuller.
A Good Book
A good book and a comfortable chair are never a bad idea. Summer always puts me in the mood for stories that I can get lost in for a few hours. If there's a ceiling fan overhead and a glass of lemonade nearby, even better!
River Days
I don't think I'll ever get tired of time at the river. The water, the sunshine, the laughter of family, and the slower pace all feel like a reset button for life. Some of my favorite memories have been made on those simple river days :)
Restoring Papa's Old Truck
There is something satisfying about watching an old vehicle come back to life. Every little bit of progress feels like a victory. It may take time but the progress is part of the fun. Papa would be happy to know that his great-great-granddaughter was riding in it!
Family Pets
Whether they're following me from room to room or making me laugh with their antics, our pets add so much personality to our home. Life would be a little quieter without them--and a whole lot less entertaining.
Worship Music in the Kitchen
Lately I've been turning on worship music while I cook supper or clean up the kitchen. It changes the atmosphere of the whole house and helps me keep my focus on what really matters.
The older I get, the more I realize that life is made up of ordinary moments. Family dinners. Church Sundays. Conversations on the porch. Wet towels from a day of swimming. Tiny hands reaching for yours. Those are the things that become the memories we treasure.
What are you currently obsessed with? I'd love to hear what's making your summer a little brighter these days.
Much Love,
Beth
