Good Monday morning, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. The First Day of Spring brought the most beautiful weather thus far. Highs in the mid 80's. It was downright hot in the sun, but you know I love the heat. Carl was off on Friday and we made flexible plans to go to Fort Worth and stay thru Sunday, but you know what can sometimes happen: life. We tried to make the best of it and just got a few things done around here on Friday.
Carl is also celebrating his 30 year work anniversary sometime in the next few weeks.
I am proud of him. He is honest, loyal, and works hard. His bosses are pretty good to him. He deserves more, but I guess that goes along with a lot of jobs.
On Friday evening we put Makena's raised bed together. She is also planting in the ground as well as my grandpa's old wheelbarrow. She is pretty good with plants. I, on the other hand, have a black thumb.
And Trey got his chickens this weekend! He got 19 Rhode Island Red hens, and 1 Barred Rock rooster. I think the rooster is beautiful. The hens are molting, so they will be prettier :)
We named him Cluck Norris because Trey got him on the day Chuck Norris died.
Some of the ladies.
On Saturday, Carl and I decided to take a little road trip. We decided to go to Hot Springs.
We shared these HUGE nachos for lunch.
Then we played around for a little while and took in the scenery. It was a beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky. We ended our day with a delicious steak from the Longhorn. Everything about the day was pretty perfect, except for the fact that we weren't in Fort Worth.
Bye now.
Sunday is church day! We had a missionary come and speak with us. He was very informational, and very passionate about doing the Lord's work. I am thankful that the Lord continues to call men like that.
I caught Toby mid-yawn :)
Carl and Makena were working hard getting her plants in the ground.
I told her she should wait until after Easter, but she did not take my advice.
Only time will tell who was right.
They worked hard. Maybe it will pay off.
And maybe that's the thing about weekends...they don't have to go as planned to be just what we needed. Sure, it didn't look like the picture I had in my head. But somehow in the middle of the mess, the laughter still showed up.
Much Love,
Beth
