Happy Monday, friends! I'm finally back after taking a mental health week! Sometimes you just need a little refresher. And now I am back with fresh ideas and a better understanding of how to move forward.
Last Wednesday night I received a phone call from my sweet granddaughter. "BeBe, my want you to pick me up in the morning." I told her that I would pick her up after school like I always do on Thursdays. "No, my want you to pick me up in the morning." I knew exactly what that meant. She didn't want to go to school! I talked with her mom, and she said she could come stay with me if I wanted to pick her up first thing. I mean, how in the world could anyone say no to that?! So I kept her and we had the best day. Hanging out and playing.
We started our morning off with McDonald's!
We visited Nanny. This was her bossy face.
I am against child labor, I promise. She asked to help wash dishes.
She mostly just played in the water!
I didn't get a picture, but we had pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon for dinner, compliments of Chef Carl. It was a great day spent with my sweet baby girl. I was reminded of the time I spent with my own grandmother in this house many years ago. I strive to be a grandmother like my mom is to my kids, and my grandmother was to me. The love a grandmother has for her grandchild is something as indescribable as when you become a mother for the first time. I thought I was too young to be a grandmother almost 4 years ago (hello, I was only 44), but I could have never guess the love and adoration I have for that little girl, and I am equally excited for her little brother to be her so I can love on him too!
On Friday evening, Carl and I took a quick ride down the river. We are looking for the perfect spot to put our houseboat. It is currently on a trailer by our shop. We plan to build a new walkway around the whole boat as well a put a couple of windows in it. Back to Friday, it was a very chilly ride, but we still had a good time.
The moon over the White River
We saw this ball that had washed up on the bank of the river.
It reminded me of "Wilson" on Castaway.
On Saturday, Carl and I went to see Carl's mom and stepdad. She had a birthday party for both him and his sisters. Only one of his sisters was available to come. We had a good time visiting and the food was wonderful, as always. Carl and I decided late last year that we would be more intentional when it comes to spending time with those we love. And like it or not, none of us are getting any younger.
On Saturday this popped up on my Facebook memories. On our way home from Wynne, Carl got a call that there was fire that was spreading quickly. It was about 10 miles from our house. Trey also got the call (they are both on the Volunteer Fire Department for our community. So as we were driving home, we met Trey and the fire truck on the road, headed to the fire. I just found it ironic that he was doing the same thing on that day 17 years ago!
Here is a sweet picture that Carlie sent me of Wren on Saturday.
And you already know, Sundays are for church! Wrenley loves to ride with BeBe and Pappy.
This is a terrible picture, but we were all together, so why not?!
"For I know the plans I have for you, said the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future..." Jeremiah 29:11
It was a beautiful, busy weekend. We are thankful for all of our blessings, and to be able to spend this day in the Lord's house together.
Much Love,
Beth
