Just Because

Just because I cannot bear to look at the same pictures on this blog for another week, I'll post some new ones :)  Yesterday we went to Morrilton for the sale "Bargains Galore on 64".  Holy Cow, I never knew so many people would brave the insane heat to yard sale.  Jamie goes to church with a very nice, sweet lady, who let us set up some of our goodies in the front of her house.  We made pretty good money, and somehow we survived the heat.  Thankfully her yard was pretty shaded.  They kids put a few of their things in the sale and were pumped to make some extra money.  We had a very productive day, with the added bonus of getting to spend time with Jamie, Noah, and Ellie Kate.  Eli and Cody were in Conway helping a church member move. 
Only one more week until school starts and I can't believe it--any of it!! I can't believe that Carlie will be in the 4Th grade, and Makena will be in the 3rd!!  They have 2 new teachers this year, and I am very excited to see how things are going to change.  I am usually not one for change, but in this case, I think it is a very good thing for our school :)  I also can't believe that this will be my last year at home with Trey.  He will turn 5 in September and will start preschool (at home) then also.  I have found a lot of great stuff to use, and I am very excited about that too.  I've got TONS of ideas!! 
Things are going to be completely crazy around here over the next month, with Carl working late harvesting on the farm, school and preschool starting, Discovery starting up at church,  birthday parties, the county fair..... I could go on and on!!  Maybe I'll have time to take pictures and post more often.... but I'm not promising anything :)  Hope you've all had a great weekend and have found some way to beat the heat!

  Happy Monday, friends! Well, here we are again. What's Up Wednesday

Be Her: When Our Ideal Self Becomes an Idol

 Ella Langley's "Be Her" got me thinking about something I think a lot of women struggle with- the woman we think we should be.  You know her. She's more disciplined. More confident. More put together. She exercises, keeps the house clean, reads her Bible every morning, never loses her patience, and somehow always has good hair. We tell ourselves, If I could just be her..... And there's nothing wrong with wanting to grow. But what happens when the woman we want to become turns into an idol? Sometimes we become so focused on our ideal self that we forget to ask God who He wants us to become. There's a subtle difference between praying, "Lord, make me more like Christ," and saying, "Lord, help me to become the woman I've decided I need to be." One is surrender.
