Things I Want To Remember About This Summer

Since school about to start, I wanted to take the time and write about the things I want to remember most about this summer.
So here they are in no particular order(after the first one, of course!):

  1. Carlie being saved and baptized.  I think this one speaks for itself :)  Best thing about this summer!  It was such an answered prayer.
  2. Makena learning how to do her back bend from a standing position.  This is something that she was determined to do, and even though it was tough for her, she did accomplish it and we are very proud of her.
  3. Trey learning how to swim on his own without floaties.  I wasn't too thrilled about Carl letting him try this one day, but he quickly let me know that he was ready and Carl said he wouldn't ever learn until we took the floaties off.  He was swimming in no time!  Now he can swim from one side of the pool to the other :)
  4. Cookouts:  it didn't matter if we were with friends, lots of family, or just our family, we had a lot of fun grilling, cooking fish, or whatever it was.  We love to eat and get together.
  5. Baseball Game: this was our first Travelers baseball, and Trey's first baseball game ever.  The girls have been to Memphis to the Redbirds game, but never to LR.  It was a lot of fun, even though it was very hot.
  6. Vacation:  We had such a nice relaxing vacation this year.  Instead of our usual cramming activities into a day, we just kind of went with it.  Some things were planned, but we always had a little extra time to just enjoy it all.
  7. Lazy Days: these days came along mainly at the end of the summer when it was just too darn hot to do anything else.  We did fun activities like play games, paint, and play inside.
  8. Playing on the fort in the sprinkler:  we have done this more recently, but it is a lot of fun for the kids, and when the pool got old, we drug out the sprinkler.
  9. Going out to the farm in the evenings to look for deer:  This is an activity that the kids loved.  They liked getting their binoculars out and watching the deer eat.
  10. Shopping trips to Wal-Mart with all 3 kids:  This always proved to be interesting.  Some days everyone was cooperative.  Other days it was pretty much chaos!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
