Every year I try to brace and prepare myself for the LONGEST month of the year, and every year I fail to accurately prepare myself for the dreary-ness the month brings. You know, when you've spent all your Christmas money and your too broke to get out and do anything, so you just stay in the house and wait (and wait and wait) on the sun to shine (both literally and figuratively). But, instead of making this post negative we are are going to focus on the good things that have been happening around here.
1. Makena had her surgery. I am choosing to look at this as a positive because I still have hope that it will eventually help her. Now, are we where we want to be? No. She is still taking pain pills and is usually asking for them before it is time. She hates this as much as I do, but we are praying that we will turn that corner towards healing any day now. Our check-up is on Tuesday, so just keep her in your prayers!

She started back to school the Monday after her Friday surgery.
She refuses to get behind. I'm so glad we homeschool.
Her incision.
2. Carlie got acceptance letters to three schools thi month. She thinks she has made up her mind as to which one she is attending in the fall: UCA. I'm just saying that I'm still praying about it and I am encouraging her to do the same. I only want her to be where God wants her to be. To say she was thrilled to get this little box in the mail was definitely an understatement!
I am very proud of her. She is a goal digger!
Praying that she shines her light for Jesus wherever she goes.
3. Trey has just been living his best life! As much as I feel bad for staying on him (school, behavior, his room being messy & stinky), he really is a good kid. He reminds me of Carl in a lot of ways, but he also reminds me of my dad. We have a missionary in the Philippines, Bro. Abel, who tells me all the time that he prays for Trey to be a preacher. I just pray that he follows and obeys God.
Even in the yuckyness of January, I am choosing joy!
Much Love,
Beth
