Friday Night Frog Gigging

Last night we went frog gigging out at the farm.  It was still a little cool and the wind was awful, but we managed to get a few little ones.  This was the first time that the kids have ever been and I do believe they liked it!  They probably would have liked it more if we hadn't have had to go in the truck because 4wheelers would have been a lot more fun, but they still enjoyed it.  Next time I think Carlie wants to actually try and and gig it by herself!   They asked me if I had ever been and when I told them that Carl and I went on a few of our dates, they thought it was hilarious :)  We weren't in any hurry to get back home because all that wind knocked down a tree on a power line up the road and we were out of electricity from 5 p.m. Friday until 2a.m. this morning.  Let me just say that I am not a fan of no electricity.  If I'm camping and that's the way it's supposed to be I'm ok with it, but not when I'm at home!!  Being serious now, I am very thankful that we were safe in all the storms that came through Thursday night and I guess no electricity is not really a big deal when you think about those families that are mourning the loved ones that they lost.  Very tragic.

I wish that I had gotten more pictures of our frog gigging extraveganza, maybe next time :)

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for another Friday favorites. And here they are in no particular order: Last week our preacher told us that he had a surprise for us next week.  I had honestly forgotten about it until Carl mentioned at lunch on Sunday.  Trey said he knew what it was, but he wasn't telling.  It still didn't occur to me what it could be until we arrived at church on Sunday night, and I saw that Trey had a notebook along with his Bible sitting next to him on our pew.  It was him. Trey was the surprise.  He gave a short devotion before our Business Meeting.  He did well, considering it was his first time.  He said the congregation was a lot scarier when you are the one being stared at! This is a big deal because about 7 months ago he realized that he needed Jesus as his Savior.  And that came after about 7 months of me worrying about him, while he was trying to stretch hi...

Friday Favorites

It's been a hot minute since I've linked up with  Andrea  and  Erika  for a Friday Favorites! This is me trying to get back into my blogging groove :) I came across this little dress last year when we moved, and I knew it would be fit Wrenley this summer! It was Makena's circa 2004.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  A favorite for sure! Look at those babies. Twenty years has flown by. Miss Wrenley Beth. She doesn't look a thing like her momma, but definitely has Aunt Makena's sass! Hopefully as her hair grows, she will get Carlie's curls. We have been doing as much outdoor activities as possible.  That includes one of my favorite things...fishing! Carl, showing off his big bass. We weren't technically bass fishing, but whatever bites. It'll eat! Of course we have also been going to the river.  Our kids weren't able to go with us, so we just took the jet ski.   It has been raining so the water is a gross brown. I didn't s...
